Iv been giving this some thought for some while now, what do you guys think of the is300? Im thinking about once i find a different job and save a little, return the corolla to stock and sell parts, i want to buy an is300, drop it on stock wheels and tune the engine from there. What would be a good price on a 01-02? and whats a good price to sell my 99 corolla with teins and custom wheels? 95k miles.

or check out edmunds for recommended prices.

The IS300 is a solid all-around car. But try to get a 2002 or newer model, there were a ton of changes from 01 to 02.

    Namely a manual transmission.

Expect to pay around 15000 for a decent one with low miles. Closer to 10000 if you don't care.

when it starts off with finding a different job and saving money i doubt you will get one. seems like a dream post like those ones where people talk about putting a turbo on the corolla.

just bringing a realistic view to the thread. there's lots of threads that get posted similar to yours and the chances are slim that anyone follows through. if you do get one than great for you, but it seems like it would a year or more before it happens based on the wording you used.

Yea the car will be parted, but not yet. once i get the IS300 my first mod will be to drop it, then save for turbo definetly. Iv read reviews and ratings and people love the car, is300 FTW. Now i just gotta find financing.

    Items for sale will be

    ABS Front lip
    Corolla S side skirts
    Cold air intake
    Strut bar
    Magnaflow Muffler
    Wheels+tires
    Tein S tech lowering springs.
Anything else that didnt come stock.

Im not sure if whoever will want it kept dropped and with wheels, but i know someone from my work is interested.

A swap is intensive. It requires new engine mounts and tranny, since the engines are mounted differently. One is transversely positioned and one is lateral.

Own one here... a Sport Cross. it is an auto... but auto can be nice, especially as a daily. Some things you may want to know.

    1) You CAN'T get an IS300 sideways(for more than a moment) because of the electronics. There is no "proper" method to disengage the electronics. You can pull fuses... but then you are screwing with stuff.

    2) Stock CD player is broken in 75% of the cars... The CD unit will give about a weeks worth of warning before it fails and gobbles your CDs. We don't use the CD part anymore, we use tapes still

    3) CHECK alignment! The supporting (secondary) lower control arm bends EASILY! No.2 in scan below

    4) 2JZ is INTERFERENCE engine! Make sure the T belt has been properly serviced!

We paid about $16,000 for her 02 with 61k miles on it just 13 months ago.....
