    Header Install

Anyone have a DIY for installing a header on an 8-gen? One with pictures would be even better. TIA.

I don't have a diy but have done header installs several times. It isn't hard to do. Unplug and unscrew the O2 sensor(if you gave one in your header). Unbolt the exhaust manifold which should be 5 bolts. Unbolt the down pipe before your cat which will probably only be two bolts, three at the most. Then just do it in reverse. Are you doing a hi flow cat and exhaust too?

I'll probably do the whole thing when I decide to do it (Read: get the money to buy everything so I can do it all at once). I bought the car used and the previous owner looks like he put on a Midas or Meineke exhaust system which is welded from one end to the other.

So much for installing a Cat-back.

I guess my other concern is having to deal with rusty bolts and possibly damaging the O2 sensor.

the rusty bolts are definately a pain and you should damage the O2 sensor. if you can get the car up in the air, everything would be a lot more simple but it is do-able with some jacks and jack stands.

    That about this one?

    http://tinyurl.com/cn849e

I take it I should stay away from those $40 ones eBay also sells.

And if I just shoot the bolts up with Liquid Wrench and let it sit overnight, do you think I'd be Good to go?

it wouldn't hurt. it really depends on how bad they are. mine, from driving up in wisconsin, were solid. I had to use a cutting wheel to get them off.

Is a header a must to add power to the 1zzfe vvt-i?

since there's no good header why not to port and polish the stock one,its probally cheaper and better instead of buying other header that dont give any hp.

Why's everyone going back to stock? Vibe was complaining that the TRD muffler was too loud. I hardly notice it sometimes.

Port and polish is probably the way to go

From what I understand, it's pretty easy to do, looks unassuming, and actually nets a few extra ponies.

There is someone who makes a race header for the celica 1zzfe and ive heard it will clear our firewall if you cut it and install a flex pipe (which you will have to do anyway) and its quality stainless steal. but its 500 dollars.

I've finally got my exhaust system completely vibration free at idle and during acceleration. i haven't had this in my corolla for almost 2 years!

if you hardly hear how much the trd muffler drones your cabin then you must be deaf imo. I have A LOT of dynamat on my car too..

furthermore.. i used to set off car alarms in parking garages...i never had to honk my horn to let my ex-gf know im in front of her house...she can hear my muffler from far away.

What about heat wrapping the headers?
Also is it worth it to put a High flow catalytic converter?
