    Torque damper?

I need one because my header hits the front stabilizer bar...and it makes an annoying noise....either that or something to absorb the impact of it..like duct tape? anyone know where i can get an 8th gen torque damper? or can i just throw some ducttape on there

Have to custom make a torque damper - as far as I know, there isn't one that you can just buy. If your engine moves that much - could be a soft or broken motor mount. Could also try filling the OEM mounts with Urethane to stiffen them up.

Otherwise, have a shop play with the header and bend it out of the way. Might have to mess with some of the exhaust hangers to help out.

i dont really have money to have them bend it. someone quoted me 500+ dollars to have them heat bent. where can i get urethane to fill in the motor mounts?

you can see about how far it is...maybe 1-2 inches so i assumed the engine movement 1-2 inches was normal.

I had the exact problem with the rattling and I took drastic measures to get rid of it. I replaced all my engine mounts and I had speed-source custom make me a rear torque engine mount and I'm going to install my engine damper which has been sitting around for a while. No more rattling as of now even without the engine damper. Plus my launch is so much better since my motor doesn't move.

I will be selling my custom rear torque mount soon since I'm parting out, but I need to have an OEM replacement in the meanwhile which isn't cheap.

Everyone I know who have/had a engine torque dampener claims the torque dampener itself causes a annoying rattleing.

If I were you i'd just remove this bar and hammer a dent into it with a mallet.

^ wouldnt hammering/re-shaping it would hurt its purpose?

Duct tape won't work. The pipe will wear right through it if the heat doesn't do that already. I've even tried thermal wrap and that failed. You don't really use the lower stabilizer bar, so jspex has a point.

I dont think this bar really serve a huge purpose... i'm not even sure which directional load this bar is supposed to prevent. Also the 7th gen doesn't even have that bar.

Another solution I see is to get two steel spacers (you can use nuts also) to space the bar down a bit, it look like there is a bit more left in the threaded portion for that.

yeah I was going to suggest that option #2.. some steel washers to push the bar down another few mm

hmm i will boost the car up and take off the bar and see what i can do. problem is i dont know how many washers i would have to stick onto the bottom. what if i just removed it completely? and tightetend up the rear sway?

Try Liquid Wrench as well. It's a penetrating oil in a spray can. Think of WD-40 on crack.

those lower subframe bolts has a torque range of over 200lbs-ft.. you need to use 1/2" drive sockets and a breaker bar.. or at least a ratchet with a jack handle slipped over it for extra leverage. I remember myself slipping around the garage floor before I brought my air tools.

Use an extension to clear the chassis and couple it with a long breaker bar or torque wrench.
