    Question about Quinine

So I have gotten in this habbit of mixing my self a gin & tonic when i get home from school in the afternoon, its great and helps me releave stress,. i dont drink alot...just 1-2 drinks...but i recently found a website that said quinine is bad for you...and im wondering if anyone here has had experience with it? or know anything about it? im assuming the FDA hasnt deemed it deadly or it wouldnt be on the store shelfs...im a history major and i know tonic water has been the cure for malaria, and leg cramps and also can be used as a low-grade muscle relaxant but is it really deadly?

alcohol is tastey. and its only deadly in mass quantities. it also helps stimulate the metabolism and regain negative calories.

Quinine isn't deadly. I remember reading somewhere that it is good in small amount, but then again too much of anything is bad. BTW I love vodka and tonic

lol its not like you get completely drunk and your are totally healthy. i walk around literally all day, and 1 shot of tanqueray has 110 calories. if i eat a tuna sandwich for lunch that has 200+ some calories and walking around campus i burn 1500+

so 2-3 shots of tanqueray aka 1 gin + tonic will equate the - calories i have when taken with a snack when i get home.

Burning 1500 calories is about the equivalent of a 9-10 mile run. Walking 3mph a person would walk a mile in 20 minutes. You really going that far?

yes. i park 1.25 miles from the light rail station (communter train) walk there, then our campus is huge...its a good 1/2 mile from the train stop to campus, then i have to walk all the way around campus, and and down stairs, from my day starts at 8 15 minute walk to the station...up and down hills...then on campus is huge. and i have class from 11-530 at night.

also factoring in that i have my backpack on which adds to my weight, which makes my legs work harder, which bruns more calories. but on average i walk 8-9 miles a day. easily.

That's good exercise, but it's still not enough. Alcohol contains empty calories.

Alcohol has about 7 calories per gram. These are considered "empty" calories because alcohol contains no beneficial nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals. It's the second highest source of calories to consuming fat, which has 9 calories per gram followed by protein and carbohydrates at 4 per gram.

That's why those who drink in excess, gain weight. If you drink, I suggest you exercise more to negate weight increase or at least keep it at bay.

So you walk for literally three hours? You should buy a pedometer and record what you do
Actually if he burns as much as he says, he would need to eat almost 4000 calories just so he doesnt lose weight.

For a while I was majoring in Kinesiology and I currently work in a running shoe store idk I find this stuff interesting. I'd just really be surprised if you did in fact walk that far daily. Its not that you cant do it, its just that its really hard, long and boring.

pedometer says i took 18536 steps today.

according to the interweb 2000-2500 steps in a mile

    so 18536/2250(average id say)=8.2 miles.

so i was off by 2 miles. but today was my short day.
