    GTS swap anyone done it?

Hey anyone ever done that in here? I have always wondered that would a good swap to do. If youve done it whats needed to do it. Im thinking the engine wiring harness of of a celica GTS trans, shift inkage, and ecu. Oh and this is into a corolla 98-02.

Including the motor and tranny? Thats not bad. It would make for a real fun car.

That's the swap cost. Gotta get the motor and tranny, too.

eww thats way too much for a swap cost. I can drop the motor in myself if i had the parts just need to know whats up with the wiring harness and how will the ecu work with the stock chassis harness.

    I emailed him.

There's lots of work involved. Header/firewall modification required, and probably a lot more.

Yeah I found it there. Just finished reading about it. Man that is a ugly Corolla. That looks like a lot of work going into that car. I will have to see if I can get a wiring harness to work and maybe I would try it. Looks like its up there as one of the hard ones. Rather than spending a lot of money doing it though Id rather just boost the stock motor.

Just as costly. Econo-motor + boost = same power as 2ZZ stock (basically).

1zzfe + alot of boost = BOOM! Just do a 2zz swap. 5g's really isnt that much for all the necessary modifications that need to be done. And if you let Tweak do it, you know its going to get done right.

Then you can boost the 2zz

Not smart unless you lower the compression a good bit. They have at least 10:1 factory.

If you do look into it, save yourself the trouble and put in low-comp pistons. It will make boosting easier and safer.

Hence "at least" next to the 10:1. I knew it was at least that much. :p

yeah but a thicker headgasket will also do the trick. I wouldn't boost too much anyways. I was boosting 15psi on my stock block integra gsr with only a thicker head gasket and cam gears at 178k.

If it wasn't such a pain to install. Requires custom mounts, subframe modification, custom axles, etc. I asked Tweak about it before, and he said he could do it (parts + install + custom work + FMIC + tune) for 10k.

yeah screw that. Rather just check out the celica swap...if not then just boost the stock block and watch it go.

True- but swapping and boosting a 2zz wouldn't be cheap either.

I'd recommend doing minor stuff to the 1zz, then buying another car. :p

what about pics and specs of your "friends" and "cousin" set up. the 2zz is not a great car to boost which is why most if not all turbos that were being developed never hit production. compression was to high to be a safe power adder.

Yeah and a lot more companys. You can pretty much boost any car these days, tuning is the key.

Does anybody know if putting on a thicker head gasket on a 1zz would drop the compression enough for turbo? What is the stock thickness and what would be a good thickness to go to? Also, metal would be better right?
