HID's for 2001 corolla?

Yes, they fit over the top of the bulb.

They should be placed on the bottom part.

By the looks of it I would have to agree with DOT. If they go on the bottom it will prevent the light from hitting the reflector on the bottom which would send the light upwards?? (Does that make sense?)

Are the shields something that comes with an HID kit? or do you have to buy them.

Exactly. They're placed over the tops of the bulbs to reduce glare. Casper electronics sells H4 HID shields.

You sure? The kit I have has them placed over the top from the factory. I can see 2 potential problems. Shielding the top and having bounce up glare, or having shielding on the bottom and having full on glare. LOL

^Yup. It's the bottom reflectors that causes the light to bounce upwards can causes glare.

50w is overkill. you're gonna blind everyone and make them run into you.

so the drl's HAVE to be stopped in order to run these. Dang I like that fact that my car turns them on at night automatcially.

You don't have to, but the HIDs are more expensive and having them on when you don't need them will kill them earlier. Why don't you just turn the lights on when you need them?? Its not a big deal

The lower voltage of the DRLs will have the HIDs flickering the whole time. Unless you disable DRLs which is easy to do, you will have this problem of flickering or change your DRLs to your highbeams.

IF the HIDs are stock the DRL voltage i guess is regulated and there will be no flicker. However when I hooked up my HID kit to my car and turned it on the lower voltage or wattage to the HID lights for DRL made them flicker.

Not really. I haven't blinded anyone. Even cops don't bother me. I have shields and the beams are at a low enough level.

How do I change my DRLs to Highbeams? I know I can just switch them on but I like the option of not having to do anything and in the dark the interior and exterior lights turn on. I will see if I can find a way to have the DRLs on the highbeams and get lowbeams as my HIDs. Im looking to do a 01 conversion anyways.

You shouldn't be running your high beams during the day. You really shouldn't have them on anytime there is another car on the road. Why not just turn your lights on.

They're trying to ban high beam DRL's.

Oh yeah, I didn't know that. But I do know some cars come stock with high beam DRLs and it sucks. I just say disable the DRLs.

Disabling them is your best choice.
