You know when it does come out in AWD, it's just going to become another WRX, Evo, GSX, 3000GT, GT4, A4, S4, S6, etc. I wouldn't the see the difference between that and any other AWD turbo car.

Too much power in a FWD car renders it useless. Torque steer like DrunkSaru said, makes ruins it. I'd rather have power in a RWD car. AWD works too as long as you tune it for oversteer or neutral handling.

Oh I forgot to mention the king of all AWD turbo cars. The Nissan Skyline G36. No other car can touch that. Not technology-wise or on the track in stock form. :D

...wait There is one... the Prodrive P1 prototype concept aka. "The Squirrel Mincer". :D But then again, there's only one in the world and you can't buy it.

But the bottom line is that at the end of the day, it's still FWD. It will never handle as well as a RWD/AWD and will always tend to understeer. The money buying one could be better spent on a different platform with more potential. If it were offered in AWD, then that's a solution. No complaints then.

Despite what Inside Line says, it's still pretty even to me. Keep in mind that the MS3 is the top model of the Mazda 3. It's sport tuned. The WRX is one of the base models of the Impreza line. It's not supposed to wow the buyer at it's current state. If you pit the WRX STI against the MS3, what would win now? True, the WRX STI costs a hell of a lot more than the MS3, but you can also upgrade the base WRX as well to the same specs or better. In the end, if you sink the same amount of money and upgrades into a base WRX and the MS3, the WRX comes out on top due to being a better platform. FWD will always lag behind. You just can't deny it. There's a reason the WRX is in rally events. It's a solid platform with plenty of potential. I don't see MS3's in any. Inside Line tests cars in stock form and don't have any knowledge outside of OEM. When they said that the MS3 is like the WRX in that it can't turn through the corners efficiently hasn't researched the differences between AWD and FWD. With a little tweaking, the AWD would out turn the FWD like it was nothing. I would love to see Top Gear drive and test both cars according to their standards and driving techniques. :D

I wouldn't take either. I would take an AE86 with a blacktop motor and smoke the crap out of the MS3 through the turns and the straights for that matter, for less than 10k.

The last generation used Subaru WRX STI can be bought for 25k or less now as well if you want to match prices.

Well. the MS3 is the best bang for the buck at the stock level. It's one of the better new cars out there. I just don't like the FWD. If it were RWD, I would be all over it. But... my tastes have progressed. I'm growing out of the sport compact scene now. I want something sport luxury with some status. Next car will be a Lexus IS300. Or if the money allows, the IS350 or IS250 AWD. The new Audi A4 is pretty sweet too. Sport luxury AWD turbo.

If I wanted real speed and power in a Toyota then I would just get a Lotus Elise, but that's just me.

its the P2, not the P1

elise is great. but exige is even better, unfortunately, i haven't had a chance to drive one but i've been in one.. if the Elise was a bit more powerful and had similar suspension setup as the exige, that would be nice..

    Right. P2.

I don't think I will ever buy Chevy. I won't touch domestic or FWD anymore for that matter.

Oh, I doubt I would either. But if you look at it, its ALMOST as fast as the MS3, but alot cheaper. Its as much as 8000 dollars cheaper than a MS3 in Canada. And supposedly made alot better than the normal turd Cobalts. Saab engine ftw.
