    My homemade rear brace!!

Well I was bored and so i decided to make a rear brace for the rolla, i figured since i feel chassis flex in the rear why not add somethin to make it stiffer, i see corolla xrs has it so i figured i make one for my 7th gen, of course its not a cross brace but its close enough lol....

I don't think that would do anything. It's not secured to strong mount points. Even if stress were to be applied to those areas, it would flex or rip right through the sheet metal it's attached to. Connect them to the rear strut mounts instead.

Hmm Maybe it does work to a point. However, you would notice an improvement if you added more mount points or linked them to the strut mounts.

Sure, it made a difference, but is it an optimal difference? For a while there, we were in talks with the TOMS USA rep about getting a rear strut brace produced......and they had done extensive testing but decided not to pursue it further since it changed the handling negatively. Too many people just get every suspension piece thats available and throw it on their car without any tuning.

mine has a big metal brace o_O.... non-flip-down-back-seats version...

braces and stuff stiffen up the car, suspension has to be compensated, if not, it'll just cause understeer or bumping during turns.... (sways)

I thought gran turismo would have thought you guys stuff like that already xD

well it made some noticable difference, i wasnt looking for a lot, it just feels stiffer when cornering @ 25-30 mph. I only did this because I saw Corolla Xrs have it and i checked online Cusco sells the rear upper strut bar for $163.00

What other suspension components do you have on your car? high performance tires? Lowering springs? Aftermarket struts? sway bars?

I thought about buying one of those rear braces that pnyk33 posted, but decided that I couldn't sacrifice the practicality of my fold down rear seats.

    None of the above LOL

I think you should of used the factory V brace from the 8th gen. non folding backseats since those have 6 bolts vs. your 3 bolts. I don't remember feeling a difference in handling when I took mine off. Yours is more practical since you can still use the folding seats to a point.
