Naw... I have three of them. lol

I'm just excited to see if the 4-speed swap works like it should!

The head off this engine is fine. $50 if anyone is interested (I can't post in the FS forum). Also the pan if someone wants to try there hand at making a high volume pan... or whatever. Just pay shipping.

I'm kind of upset as the block needs to be bored because of a taper.

I can't see how a rod would bend like that instead of simply snapping. o_O

Yeah I pulled it out like that. The guy who owned the car before me just said it made a clunk and stopped running. What I assumed happened is he ran it out of oil, starved the #3 crank bearing, the connecting rod ate the bearing then began to fuse to the crank, when that happened the connecting rod bolts snapped sending the rod and piston up to the quench area on the head (you can see the carbon has been blasted off the piston), then fell back down into the case just in front of the crank. Since it was so hot and I'm sure the other bearing were starving too when the crank caught the rod it pulled the piston down to the bottom of the bore into girdle, then the rod into the side of the case, there by bending it. :)

All three Toyota motors have issues by the way. One knocks on start up (I'm sure the bearings are hurting - the same guy owned it). There was the one above. And the last one was the first one I pulled apart - just covered in sludge. The #4 rod bearing was starving and knocking because of the pickup was plugged.

The block is at the machine shop right now getting bored to .020 or .030... whatever pistons I can find.

Today I have to try and get my 1.8L 16V swapped Festiva running. Some how I think it's going to need a new head.

It's no fun when you find a rod like that.

That's where I bought my new main and rod bearings. I thought I'd get the upgraded versions.

My block has finally been bored and I have the pistons.

Actually, I'm going to school for Automotive Engineering and I have access to a dyno, but I'm not really doing any kind of performance things to it. It's just the coated bearings... and that's just for longevity more than anything else. lol

The head is assembled and lifters installed. Waiting on the machine shop to finish bore the block.

You didnt just disassemble everything and put it back in. I would also say dyno it just to see. I would think, just by doing the little you did, would add some whp.

Well, the tan car runs now. I swapped a 4 speed automatic in it (you need the 4 speed engine/transmission wiring harness, shifter assembly, torque converter, rear and top mount, and ECU). It used to be a 3 speed. I also put a tach in it... because it was free and it's a sik tuner mod, and it has a outside air temp reading. :D

I'm waiting on my headbolts to continue on the engine above. That one is going in the silver car.

I don't know if it's really that tall. It's just skinny (front to back). I think once all the accessories are on it (and front timing cover) it won't look so tall.

its a tall engine thats why its called a long block and y it makes all its torque at 4k rpms not in the 5s

hey question for yah when u put this all back together did u come across silicon stuff that needs to go in between timing cover and the block where the valve cover meets . i was reading a toyota manual about it and it said u had to put some kind of sealant between those 2 at the top where the valve cover meets the block and timing cover. did u come across that? cause i wanted to pull my cover off but i didnt know what that stuff was.

Yeah. I got it from Toyota. It's called FIGP you use it between the upper and lower block sections, the oil pan, and the timing cover.

The difference in deck height between this and the 8000 RPM 2ZZ-GE is marginal.
