Awww it's a coupe. I prefer the hatch. My friend picked up a hatch AE86 a couple months ago. Already has a built 4AGE in it. Planning to sell if anyone is interested. He's selling to get an IS300 instead.

IS300's are solid cars, 4-wheel double wishbones, 2JZ-GE powered, RWD..... much more of a drivers car than the new IS

    don't hold your breath.

Legit01Rolla, is that a GTS or an SR5?

Im sick of people calling it the new AE86. The AE86 was the code of the car just how my car is a ZZE-110. Its not getting an A engine and its not even on the E platform. Its a freaking rwd impreza coupe without the impreza engine so I dont see what the big deal is? Anyways we wont even get the toyota version here. Just go buy a WRX and get a proper car instead of half of a subie.

Exactly. Get a real WRX. Or if you're really hung up on RWD, get an IS300. LOL :D

they go by the VIN, not your description. My 06 XRS costs more to insure than the IS300(the quote was for an 05 IS300) I was also looking at when I was car shopping. That's for identical coverage limits too, btw.

how old are you? im not even 20 so they charge me more for the luxury then the "performance" sedan. i was quoted about 100 bucks more/month for an is300 then an xrs

HaHa - didn't even notice that until you mentioned it.

Looks like it might be a lot of work - hopefully, the powertrain and suspension doesn't look as bad as the outside (rattle can paint job). Could be alot worse though.

Looks like it got the hood spaced up slightly and the tape on the wheels. Hopefully, Legit01Rolla you didn't pay too much for it (ie. the AE86 tax). Props to you - like to see more classis Toyotas around.

I'm really surprised by this... I would be under the impression that XRS insurance costs would be comparable to a normal plain-jane Corolla.

Doesn't make sense at all to me

Allstate apparently doesn't group them together. For me, The 05 IS was even cheaper than my 98 Saturn, no joke. I'm paying about 100/mo for the 06 XRS and the 83 Corolla(that's literally 2/mo) but the quote on an 05 IS with my 83 Corolla was only around 89/mo. That's full coverage, 500k/300k, with $500 coll/$250 comp deductibles.

At the time of the quote, I was 25 years old, unmarried female driver. And no, Allstate doesn't give a discount when you turn 25....it's when you marry or turn 30 according to my agent, lol.

    Do two things with it:

    1. NEVER EVER EVER use any wheel diameter but 15". It's an unspoken rule (from every 86 person I've spoken to). No 16", no 14". Only 15".

    2. PLEASE for the love of Jehosephat put a levin front end on it. They look sexier on the coupe than the trueno front end.

From what Legit01Rolla's car was, I am sure he would do very well with this one. The only limitation would be $.

I think it also depends on how you will drive the car. I think 15" is good for all purpose. I know many who use it for drift or track and they prefer 16" and one guy i know who used it for rally race in japan preferred 14". So I don't think its "NEVER EVER EVER use" ... depends on how you will be driving it.

Secondly, I like the Trueno front end personally. I just with the flip lights were faster..those things take forever to pop up. hehe
