    4afe/7afe turbo setup

    Hi,
I wanna know what is the best suitable parts setup to boost the 4afe or 7afe engines? Anyone has suggestions by using Garrett GT series turbo on these engines to produce at least 225whp and up? Comments are welcome.

I seen some kits already like turbo specialties, but i don't want some of the pieces they offer. Most likely I'm build it from the ground up bcuz I wanna shove some real HKS or other quality pieces on it, like the new ssqv, spf filter, turbo timer, n other pieces. I must keep reliability since its my D.D. and will use on autoX soon. Also considering another Toyota D.D. so i can work on it.

    tOrres16: En el Wal-mart :D j/k! http://www.turbospecialties-race.com Got 2 kits available, unless u wanna go custom.

JspeXAE102: GT2860RS "disco potato"? Well I gotta compare specs and trim sizes to see what turbo suits best. Thanx, u teh homie from my home state .

    no problem.

my first corolla was a base 4afe auto '94. always had big plans for that car. so i love to see people building their 7thgens.

thinking about building the wife a '93, blacktop powered, jdm themed daily driver.

That sounds cool. Who would b crazy enough to swap a 1MZ-FE v6 in a corolla??? (Maybe me) A celica owner in 6gcelica forum has done it. Sumone needs 2 do this in a corolla, but were all poor, lol.

the disco potato is a expensive turbo.. if you have some extra monies to spend than go for it. I was never a huge fan of JGS's log manifold so I found a better option

This is a honda B series turbo manifold (from ebay) with the header flange cut off and a Toyota A series flange welded on. Apparently the runner distances are close enough to make this modification possible.

Hmm, i was just thinkin about a tubular style manifold. I got locals who can help me fabricate some pieces like the I/C piping, exhaust, and manifold. They do a really good job using a tig welder.

I don't really know much about turbo setups, but apparently that Disco Potato turbo spools very quickly from what I see .... there's a local guy around here who has one on his ITB'ed Integra GS-R that's pushing 300+whp

unless you can find a tubular manifold for less than you can get a log style manifold, there really is no reason to buy tubular. it basically comes down to aesthetics.

power gains are negligible between the two until you are to the point where the last 10 to 20whp makes or breaks you.
