It helps, even if not by a lot. I run the canyons a lot too, so every bit of cooling helps.

the idea makes sense, i just wasnt sure if it would do THAT much, but if you do this, along with a functioning hood scoop like vortex has it would be great.

btw i run canyons too...or should i say fly....

so how do those websites work? meaning...the price...lol

hoodscoops are useless unless it feeds into and sealed to a intercooler like on a WRX or GT4

^^Exactly. It's just makes the motor dirtier. The only thing that would somewhat work is cowl induction on a specially designed hood. And those lead to intakes too.

with the weapon-r i have you get that ram air kit that has a part you can attach to it that is about...8-9 inches wide and maybe 2 inches tall so you can put that behind the scoop....thats what my plan was anyway..

I love that picture. That's exactly why I'm building my own. LOL :D Good read btw!

I guess my cardboard template is good enough then? LOL HAHAHAHA

Looks like metal is out of the question unless I can get a metal fabrication company to make it for me. I simply cannot make clean enough cuts on metal. Looks like fiberglass is the winner here.

i spoke to a sheet metal fabricator a few months back and they wanted like $100.. I thought about laying one in carbon fiber but I just like the aluminum look better. so i'm just going to buy one that's pre fabricated:D

I've been looking and carbon fiber seems pretty straightforward. I found the perfect resin for it too. :)

just practice doing som flat plates and you'll get the hang of it. I perfer silmar 249A resin. system 3 makes some good epoxy resins but they cost mucho dinero.

i'd start of with a polyester resin.. much cheaper and you could probably find it at local places.

I just finished watching the video. It's going to be a lot of work. LOL Ok, I'll hit up my local parts stores and look for polyester resin. I need to find to huge pieces of glass too. Does plexiglass work too?

nah, PMMA is more porous than glass. I found a big piece of glass someone threw out on the street and just took it.:D Check out some marine supplies stores, you could usually get fiberglass and CF by the yard, resins, and tools like rollers and brushes.

That will be my second project.

My only gripe with carbon fiber besides being expensive to make, is that it's going to be really hard to cut. My blades are going to get roasted. LOL

It's not a major modification. LOL Plus it gives me something to do while I wait for the car to get fixed. Everything I learn now I can use on the WRX. :D

I'm debating whether or not I should contract a metal shop company to make it for me if I supply the measurements and template.
    http://www.apmetalshop.com/
However, unless I order a lot, prices won't be cheap.

haha I guess you can say that, but only to a point. I'm actually going to rally it. hehe I don't like owning something I can't use to the limit. :)

Well, I doubt there's enough interest to warrant contracting a metal fabrication company to make cooling plates. I'll try with carbon fiber and plexiglass for now. If they come out somewhat decent, they will have to be custom orders. lol

I'd be willing to make under panels for 7th gens as well. I just need a donor car for measurements. :)
