    tire size

Ok I got a 2001 corolla and was planning on getting new rims for it, my old ones were destroyed in a car accident so i need new ones for the summer i was thinking of getting 15 inch rims but has anyone gotten a bigger tire i mean 195/55/15 is supposed to be the size used but a 195/60/15 tire is a little bigger but is a bit cheaper do you all think that this difference could effect the turning diameter, touch the suspenion, or fenders.

195/55 will look better. I dont think it will make that much of a difference in performance but always good to stick with whats recommended.

Go with the recommended 195/55/15 or else it will screw with your speedometer reading.

I'm going to switch to 195/55/15s the next time I need new tires. Less rubbing and makes it easier for me lower even more. :)

The profile is almost the same. 50% of 205 is almost the same as 55% of 195. There about a 5 mm difference. 205 gives you more tire to pavement contact than 195.

you're gonna rub with a 205 if you dont have a +45 offset wheel..

rollatuner: i wasn't talkin about the width of the tire. i was sayin, why not go 55 if u can fit that as oppsed to 50 profile. every little bit helps when you run over potholes and risk bending your wheel.

I live in Florida .... Plus the roads in Puerto RIco are fallen apart way worse then any place in the U.S.A.....But that besides the point.... What makes me laugh is there is always someone trying to be out better then the next ... If you want your opinion to be that perfect then take it .... You win your roads are the worse , your tires you use are the greatest and you have more snow then me .... LOL......... Good luck on your tire choice man .... :):):):):)

    I don't rub with 205mm 38 offset

    205/50= 102.5mm sidewall
    195/55 = 107.25mm sidewall

the difference is less than 5mm.

yeah I thought by getting a 195/60/15 would save quite a bit of money than the 195/55/15 tire not that i am real cheap but it does add up over four tires. Also I thought it would not make that much of a difference on the speedometer and where I live the pot holes look like you are driving through bomb craters. I am looking at 15x7 drag DR20 with the machined face and black gloss paint.

I would have to say the most important thing is the tires and not the wheels that they are mounted on. Spend a little extra on your tires man. It's what your life is riding on. 195/55/15 and 205/50/15 are the only sizes you should be looking at for 15 inch wheels.

I had a set of 195/50/15 BFG's on my old 89 Tercel. They looked good for the car back then. I wish I had some pictures. However, 15's look small on the 8th gen, so I went with 17's.

The sidewall will be a little narrow. 195/55/15 would be better. Costs less too.
