    Thank god I just landed a job. Not just gas prices are going up. Food and lodging too from inflation and a piss poor American dollar. Expect the cost of living to double soon.

    i was curious about the cost difference with the TDI numbers and Regular Gas numbers and did the calculation on another vw board.

    Jetta 2005 TDI numbers against the Jetta 2005 2.5 numbers.

    MPG - City / Highway:
    TDI EPA = 36 mpg / 43 mpg
    2.5 EPA = 22 mpg / 30 mpg

    Current Gas Cost (vegas area:(
    Diesel = 4.55
    87 = 3.69

    Miles Per Tank using 14 Gallons (Using Highway Numbers:(
    TDI = 602
    2.5 = 420

    Cost to fill Tank:
    TDI = $63.70
    2.5 = $51.66

    Cost of Gas at 15,000 Miles:
    TDI = $1587
    2.5 = $1845

    Cost difference is $258 every 15k miles. I don't remember what the cost for a diesel upgrade was so don't know if it equals out or not.

    I used these links for the reference of EPA numbers
    TDI: http://www.edmunds.com/used/2005/volkswagen/jetta/100515624/specs.html

    2.5: http://www.edmunds.com/used/2005/volkswagen/jetta/100515620/specs.html

    Now its starting to hit my pocket a bit now that I'm going to school. I barely use the SUV, unless I really have to. I had to make a few financial adjustments so hopefully that'll help.

    How are gas prices in your area?

    I noticed on another Forum that I frequent that I posted to a similar thread on 5/7/08 gas prices were $3.34/gal here and today they just topped $4.00/gal; 6/9/08. Dang by the time the fourth of July hits they ought to top $4.50/gal at the least:shutup::(:rolleyes:
