    People w/ obx exhaust header

Do you guys have problems with heat radiating off it?

So I finally got my heater done (went to Kost and quoted me $1400 to replace the heater core and I went to Midas for a second opinion and they fixed my heater by back flushing, etc.) and he said that he noticed a LOT of heat radiating off the exhaust header and offered to fabricate a heat shield for it.

    What do you guys think?

I don't notice anything. I removed the heat shield from my stock manifold before as well and that didn't affect anything either.

I don't have that shield... :superconf I guess it's not important since I don't notice anything.

rollatuner110 added 1 Minutes and 43 Seconds later...

I bet you the leak is from a crack in the collector tube where the 4 runners meet. On the bottom. If that's not it, then it's from the joining section where the donut gasket is. Or... both.

i bet you are right i searched through some threads and that seems to be the problem.

so you both dont have that heat shield there? i kept it there because there was wiring that was tucked behind it that looked important.

how much does that ceramic coating cost?

Don't get ceramic coating. It will eventually flake off anyways. You should just get some thermal exhaust wrap.

The better coatings wont come off, theres a shop in my area called crucial racing quoted me $150 for the coating, then wrap a layer of exhaust wrap on top of that and you could touch the runners with your bare hands after hard driving. gruppe-s used to sell manifolds with that coating to WRX and EVOs.

Interesting. Too bad I can't coat them anymore since I can't remove them unless I cut the header out.

no its some local shop called Kost Tire/Muffler shop that diagnosed my heater problem and offered to fix it by having to replace the heater core which with parts and labor totaled to 1400.

i went to midas because 1400 is a lot of money and i wanted a second opinion. midas only charged me $125 because i needed something welded too.

Too many problems with those things, it seems. I'm limiting my further upgrades to HIDs. May get a new shift knob and paint, too. Probably just rock it as is. Who knows. Maybe even new speakers.

    Damn it.
