Don't drink Gatorade unless you plan on exercising for more than an hour. It has negative effects otherwise if you drink too much. Drink lots of water, take Vitamin C, and get lots of rest. Vitamin C is a great antioxidant and has no ill effects if you take more than the daily recommended value. It will be excreted out of your body. Dayquil and Nyquil should be used only for temporary relief. Try not to take any other drugs as much as possible. Showers are good, but don't take more than 2 or so a day. More than that can wash away beneficial bacteria that grows on your skin that helps defend against foreign infections. If you still don't feel better after a couple days, I suggest going to see your doctor.

sickness as in what tho? whenever I have a cold where i have mucus, I stay away from dairy products and drink lots of OJ. Gatorade I would only drink if I'm dehydrated really. but thats just me. and water helps too.

Go to a doctor and have him diagnose it. If it's a bacterial infection like of the streptococcus genus, then the doc can prescribe antibiotics. If it's a virus, antibiotics won't do crap. But imo it's always better to get better on your own without the use of medicines. In the meanwhile, just drink the Emergen-C, water, and get plenty of rest. And like the others said, go out and move around. Just dress warm.

if he's already sick it's too late...vitamin c prevents, rather than cures illness.

Just wrap yourself up like a gordita and sweat it off.... or other "sweating" techniques can be used as well hehehe..... rest plenty, water and tea are a must. What I also do and it's up to you, is I go to the gym and run 1-3 miles and go into the sauna for 5 mins to help me sweat it all out as well.

EDIT: its not an ER its an emergency care center that is never busy because no one knows about it (sweedish southwest near southwest plaza for those who live here) they are really nice and give you drugs =]

Sounds like a bacterial infection. You don't have a private doctor, so I'm assuming you don't have insurance?

OH ok, I was going to say that the real ER would overcharge you for a simple solution.

That's good and smart. You should never take leftover medications prescribed to someone else.

Take this from the girl who has had bronchitis, sinus infections, pneumonia constantly...however had her first cold in 5 years just this past two weeks. :) Which let me know tell you was an awesome change of pace. :).

Okay first of all you have to decide if you have a sinus infection: is your boogers yellow and thick and gooey? If that's the case and you have a feeling of your head expolding, go to the doctor tell them you're retarded for waiting so long, and get some medicine and by the next day you should feel better. TAKE ALL OF YOUR MEDICINE as it is probably an anti biotic and you want your body to use it's loverly defense system to kick some ass.

If you have a cold, nothing you can really do but drink some chicken noodle soup. rest. and plenty of WATER. You don't get really that dehydrated like you would if you had the flu or something to that effect. Water is your best bet, your body is made up of 80% of that awesome stuff so why not refill it with it?

Anyway that's what I do and I usually kick everything out of my body within a week or so depending on how it's developed. If it's pneumonia I know I am going to be sick for a month or month and a half. However, be careful if you do have a sinus infection, that's how I got pneumonia. I didn't go to the infirmary in Basic Training and just let it fester and get out of control.

Hope this helps, and even if you're feeling better due to the fact I haven't been on here for a few days, I am sure this info can help others.

    Thanks!

    Lindsay

Well, definitely drink tons of fluids and stuff to loosen it up. The over the counter stuff I use for mucus is AMAZING. That Mucinex D or DM (one is for daytime the other for nighttime). It's a lot more expensive than say regular cough medicine, but it fucking works man. You can sleep at night and it will loosen it up so when you wake up for instance, you can get rid of it. It's dope.
