My gf's ring size is a 4 which is making it very difficult to locate nice ring. Will a size five make the ring so big for her that it's unwearable? I have noticed that a size four on her finger will fit, but it's a little too snug. Perhaps a 4.5 will be perfect. What do you guys think? 4, 4.5, or 5?

go with a 5, give it to her. if its too big go get it re-sized. most places wont charge you for re-sizing

I got one of those rubber rings from Lowe's for me n my girl. I told her that back in my high school cross country days, we wore these black rubber rings that were commitment rings that we were gonna do whatever it took to reach our goal and that goal in question at the time was to take state and replace the black rubber ring with a state champions ring. She liked the idea so much that we got them for us. Our goal is simply to make our relationship work and last. Who knows, maybe it will be replaced with a real ring sometime in the future but that's lookin too far ahead for me. It's cheap man...a box of like 8 for $2, lol. Call me the ricer of relationships, ha.

haha No I want to get a real ring. A cheap one, but real. A simple silver band with our names engraved on the inside will suffice.

I've been through hell and back with her so I want to put a little thought and effort into it. :rule: LOL She did surprise me with a nice gift at our last one year anniversary.

I bought Nathan a titanium wedding band ... he loves it. Ask him. I think silver would work. It's just a promise ring so no need for diamonds. Unless you want to maybe include both of your birthstones in it or something. Or just hers. Whichever. And engraving. Seriously, go to a department store, they are having GREAT sales. See what you come up with...and share! How exciting!!

Actually, I looked around and I found the perfect ring. I got a 4mm bold sterling silver band. Why so big you ask? Because I plan to engrave just like corollagtswife suggested! Ok, so now I need some engraving ideas. Here are my ideas:
(1) The date we met "X/X/XX" on the outside and our names on the inside
(2) "∞" on the outside and our names and/or date "X/X/XX" on the inside
(3) Nothing but our names on the inside
(4) Our initials "XX + XX" on the outside and the full date "month Xth XXXX" on the inside
(5) "Always with you" on the outside and the full date and our names on the inside.

I don't want to engrave a lot of writing on the outside since it would distract from the appearance of the ring(unless it's a damn good phrase). Please give any ideas and I'll consider them.
I'll post pics of the ring when I receive it before I engrave it.

Honestly, I don't think you should engrave on the outside. You're right, it will distract from it. On the inside however, I think the date you went together (it shows to her you aren't the typical guy and forget dates...) and both of your initials will be dope. And then when you two tie the knot, incorporate the promise ring with the wedding set somehow. Or just have her switch it to the right hand. I know a promise ring is supposed to be on the right hand anyway, but still I'd wear it on the left if I was her.

Well that's how you hurt yourself. Always ask a girl's opinion on stuff like this. if you ask a guy they're gonna come up with some guy answer and then your gf is going to be pissed off. See, I'm a pretty simple girl. I have a plain simple silver band as my wedding band. Then my engagement ring is a three stoned diamond ring which is beautiful. Oh hell, I'll post a picture.

i think if you go with just your names on the inside that would be a good idea.

Let me give you some Advice here...... You can laugh but Walmart has a Jewerly collection and they can run from 500 dollars on up and they come with Authenticity papers...... Go there put a ring on layaway ....You can get them resized but might take longer.....as far as engraving wait till you get married I got mine engraved and it was free......Good luck to you and make sure this is the one .....

NO NO NO ..... I guess you havent been on the Jewerly department in Walmart..... They have there own line and the shit aint cheap.... and it's real diamonds not that fake shit/..... You must be looking through the wrong glass.....LOL....... In this picture the engagment ring was bought at walmart for about 800 and the wedding bands were bought at a jewerly place for 400 plus free engraving ....and if you think 800 is cheap then more power to ya ....LOl.. Dam my hands look old.... LOL

Umm FYI: Walmart doenst have layaway anymore. My advise is getting something simple but elegent, maybe just her birthstone or something, then save for a nice engaugement ring and wedding bands.

DO NOT BUY 4RM WALMART!!! Jewelry sucks butt there I know because my uncle owns a jewelry shop in LA. Their diamond isn't the best clarity. When I got married, I have a simple band w one diamond (I got it put in) and it was only $250 total for both bands. But recently upgraded since we can afford it now. I have the 3 stone VVS1 diamond 2 carats in the middle & half a carat on the sides. Appraised at 12K-15K, but only paid 3K and came w a cert of the diamonds. 18k white gold.

At an american place, they say TOTAL carat weight and that's tiny. And most diamonds are yellow in the middle when u look in the middle w/ a microscope.

So basically, if u have a girl like me that knos about diamonds or jewelry, ur screwed! Lol.

But just for now, a simple band is fine w/ the date & initials inside the band..nothing fancy.

And 4 those of u talking about walmart..ur wasting money. The band will turn black or dark colored especially if u shower with it or do dishes. And I'm too lazy to take it off & put it on over & over again.

I recommend an azn place if u guys have any. They do bargaining.

Not everyone gets fat! If you just let yourself go then yeah, but I've been through 3 (1 set of twins) kids and still a size sml or a 1, jus like in high school (2001). And my husband is the same as when we got married. And no, we don't eat healthy but we do eat out a lot.

So I did. I saved up and got her a nice set of rings, and she's happy.

Moral of the story: SAVE YO' DOLLAZ.

That's a good idea too because I didn't want a promise ring either.

It's ok since the ring with engraving is only 40 dollars. It's just simple ring. But each girl is different. I know my gf will love it. And when I do get her an engagement ring, she'll love that too!

Just spend more than $40 on the engagement ring ... alright?
