Not bad. Actually looks better than the current Pontiac Vibe - fenders are well integrated (compared to the peel and stick look from before) and the high beltline makes it look much less wagonlike. Hopefully the Toyota version doesn't get too crazy with theirs. They talk about the return of the GT variant - I wonder what engine choice they have in mind, since they canned the 2ZZ-GE.

i wouldn't be surprised if they used the Camry/tC motor.

Not enough power ;) I say they shoehorn the 3.5 V6 from the Camry/RAV4/etc.

what you say and what they'll do are probably going to be entirely different things. besides, i don't know if that engine bay is big enough without moving the firewall or doing other significant modification. it would make sense to keep it a 4 cylinder. keep the 1ZZ for the base model, go with the slightly bigger motor for the GT.

Toyota is cheap and lazy now-a-days. The motors will most likely be the 1ZZGE and the 2AZFE. Meh...

Toyota is going down the toilet. Or it's already gone down.

First i'll introduce the Toyota Auris, which is a Corolla by another name... which has a 1.8 and 2.4 gas engine (amongst much smaller gas engines and diesels which we probably won't get), so the Corolla will most likely come with the new 1.8 in the lesser models and the 2.4 from the Camry in the higher end models)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Auris

But, then there is the Toyota Blade (which is basically a luxury version of the Auris/Corolla), all it has is a different front and rear bumer/grille design to it, but its basically identical otherwise... that is available with a 3.5 V6 in the Blade Master G trim level (weird name, I know)...
    http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/02/japan-toyota-drops-3-5l-v6-in-blade-master-hatchback/

So the 3.5 V6 does fit the platform, so its not if they can build it, its if they will actually build it for North America...

basically doesn't mean it is. firewall could be off slightly, etc. regardless, we won't see it in the US.

I'd rock this (Auris Master G) if it ever came into the US (but I'd change the tails out first...... those things are hideous.

tC's are all over the place here. I agree with lilbit01. BORING. It's practically the new Civic of our time. Nothing is unique anymore. And I mean, it's just an over-glorified Camry.

Well if you visit the US, you'll get tired of them real fast. I've only seen women and old people driving them here. Occasionally, I'll see some kid driving one that daddy bought him/her to go to school with. They speed, ignore traffic laws, cut me off, and act faster than they really are. Lame.

yeah. I almost bought one when they came out. I'm glad I didn't. Everyone and their mom has one, I'd have hated only having 2 doors and they are basically a shrunken down 4 cyl. Camry Solara Hardtop. I do wish that Flint Mica would have come on the XRS instead of Phantom Gray.

I feel the same way about 2 door cars. It's a pain for passengers and just overall less convenient then four doors. These days, sport sedans are the way to go. A lot of companies are going that route.
