in the last year, i've sold the corolla, and now i drive a mr2 spyder. it's got a 2zzge and i'm focused on having it as a daily driven track car. it's really fun to drive around and handles amazing. u guys should sell your cars and get a mr2 as well :)

well thats one hell of a stretch to say that... did you mean the elise? because the esprit is in a whole other class. the elise doesnt just have some stock 2zz with stock tuning. the elise is also leaps and bounds above the mrs in all around performance.

yup. Lotus took the 2zz/C64 and added their own ECU with a few bolt ons designed so specifically for the engine that replacing the parts with "aftermarket upgrades" generally robs hp. The car is also under 2000lbs. if memory serves.

MR-S is nice. I think there's one of those in town along with a small gaggle of turbo'd 1zz variants.

If I'm not mistaken, the Elise has a 1zz. The Exige has a 2zz.

elise and exige both have the 2zzge in them...their just tuned differently, the elise has 190hp and the exige has 220hp, then theres the exige cup one that has 255hp of supercharged power, still has the 2zz

    you are, in fact, mistaken.

the main difference between the elise and exige are the soft top on the elise and the fixed hardtop on the exige.

And then...you've got the Exige S.....which could stand for either supercharged or skeet skeet skeet....though if it was the latter I suppose it'd be the Exige SSS, lol.

Well, in a sport compact car issue, the turbocharged 1ZZFE MR2 Spyder narrowly beat the Lotus running head to head. Doing the 2ZZGE swap and then forced induction would put it well over the top of both the Lotus Elise and Exige.

but you are mistaken, partially :p. the elise and exige both come standard with a 2zz-ge. exige S comes with a supercharged 2zz-ge. the only difference between toyota 2zz and lotus 2zz is the tuning on the ecu. transmission maybe.

the mr-s came standard and fully loaded with a 1zz-fe, even in japan. toyota felt it was adequate for the nimbleness of the car, which is true. i've driven both stock and swapped mr-s and it's nearly the same for small course.

    looks stock, doesn't it ? :)

Very nice! How much did it cost to swap a 2zz in there?
