Corolla LE to S interior swap

Old interior: Tan fabric with tan roof
new interior: Black fabric with light charcoal (creme) roof

Well, I finally did it! Still waiting on a few parts but the project is mostly done. Almost everything is a direct fit. I also added the standard toyota relay for my fogs that sits way up in the dash while I had it apart.

Apparently my post got edited wrong or something.. anyway, almost everything fit except the rear frame brace. Awesome to have an S now :)

parts from the car was only about half that price, the rest is parts I've had to buy elsewhere. Also the parts came from an auto, so I have a center armrest that sits a bit too high (although now I get a rear power outlet too). I can only shift using the ball of the shifter at the top, with the old armrest you could shift using the stick or the ball.

The wire for the rear power outlet just sits taped next to the ebrake and is all prewired and ready to go. As I've said before the rear frame brace doesn't fit correctly because the rear seat pan is actually shaped and drilled differently for the S model.

worst part is cutting some pieces of tape that hold wire harnesses to the dash plastic. other than that it wasn't that bad. after the tape was off had to remove the fuse panel from the left side of the dash & left air vent. pulled a few more screws, then got the dash off with quite a bit of tugging and pulling. Once off you gotta unscrew the main wire junction box for the car (like 6 connectors) and the vent piece that goes to the defrost grill. After that the whole dash should come out. assembly was the reverse, then I got to re-tape the harnesses back in place.

you could try the same trick I used in the other thread for the clock. put a tiny piece of red film between the clear sleeve and the light bulb.. I'll try it myself today and see how it goes (can't see the color very well until after dark)

done! too easy, what is that 20 minutes?

    1. pull the lower panel off
    2. remove the wires & bulbs, twist the cigarette lighter bulb then it comes right out, pull out the metal part of the lighter.
    3. remove the clear plastic ring, place about an inch long piece of red plastic in there and reinstall the clear ring.
    4. remove the green piece of rubber from the light bulb (so now it is white and will appear red with the film)
    5. reassemble.

haven't been able to test the color yet since it wont be dark for another 10 hours but I have a feeling it will work as expected.

ahh. I have the cigarette lighter sitting in my center box because I don't use it. Instead the front power port gets used for my GPS, the rear for my radar detector.
