How to install TRD Lip Spoiler

Ok the one I have used to be shyguys spoiler on his blue show car. Its since been repainted to silver for my car lol. Question is that it has two threads where bolts go in. I was wondering how you guys lined it all up and drilled the holes perfectly? I need to install mine and I dont want to fuck it up so.

Many dont even drill those holes.. the 3m double side tape is more than enough to hold.

As for unibit, pick up a set from harbor freight. They're $10 and works great for me so far.

I still want to drill the holes. I would feel unsafe. The tape doesnt hole that well.

the tape DOES hold well. you have to clean the surfaces that you will put the tape on. you have no idea how strong these tapes are.

Here's the install guide from newcelica.org by 00CelicaRuss. This should give you a good idea on how to go about drilling and installing your spoiler. I hope this helps.

um...are you fully cleaning the surface before applying the tape? are you applying the tape properly? on what do you base this opinion? my spoiler held for 2 years before i dumped the car off, and i know Vamp has only used tape on his for the years he's had it.

Are you using the right tape? Make sure its the 3M doublesided outdoor tape. It has a bright red backing and the tape itself is epoxy based and has a dark grey color. That shit is almost impossible to remove by hand. Don't use that pansy 3M indoor doublesided tape. Its a white color and has a white or plaid backing.

It was a simple question on how to line up the spoiler and drill holes. Not going at me about the tape. And Im using the right tape and Im applying it correctly.

Well its a completely different spoiler but it did help me a little bit. Thanks for your help dward.

I wasnt inferring to rollatuner but rather to everyone. I understand that but I want to drill holes in my trunk. So now that everything is clear. Anyone drill holes in their trunk for their trd lip spoiler? If so how did you line it up.

Nobody has drilled holes to install the TRD lip spoiler because it was designed to be mounted with tape from Toyota. You're just making more work for yourself. The 3M tape is strong enough because that is what they use to mount factory badging and side moldings. If you want to line it up, why don't you temporarily tape the spoiler how you want it mounted and mask off the section so you know where you can drill. Then measure out your drill spots. What kind of drill bit are you going to use?

Probably that unibit thing that others suggested. Gonna try and make a template of it and go from there.
