    Pad question....

Just bought some pads to replace my Hawk HPS pads that just got worn out by my slotted rotors. I went into advanced auto parts store and bought their top of the line bendix premium pads for 50 dollars after tax. Well i was just wondering if anyone ever used them or any reviews?

They have a one time replacement warranty if they ever wear out....

Also wat kind of brake fluid should i use? I saw a bunch of dot 3 brake fluid and some valvoline synthetic... How much do i need and what of?

My next set of pads will be EBC green or red stuff pads. Kind of pricey but worth every penny.

I would've stuck with HPS. I use those for street and HP+ for autox/track.

EBC red stuff pads can be used as a track pad for a short while. For a full time track pad, use the yellow stuff pads. EBC has some of the lowest dust pads and some of the strongest cold and hot bite.

Having just tossed a set of EBC on my "play" car - just watch that funny coating that EBC likes to coat their pads with. Supposed to help with the bedding process - but I found that they generally just eat the hell out of the rotor and/or destroy the pad in the process. For some reason, I have a heck of a time getting them to bed in correctly - some have suggested turning old rotors first, as the friction layer they transfer to the rotor can get funny except on virgin rotors. Same deal with Performance Friction products - generally they don't recommend different pad materials before or after use with PF stuff.

Only had one bum set of Hawk pads over the past nearly 5 years I used them on the Corolla - first time ever with Hawk, getting about 30K - 45K miles per set (car has almost 150K miles, on second set of rotors and on third set of Hawk HPS pads). Will be going with Hawk or Porterfields on the Matrix - both make excellent street pads that have a bit more bite, still good all weather performance, and are rotor friendly.

mines only squeal in cold days. But they do dust a lot which is great because if you have a pad that don't dust you have a pad that don't work.

the ones i have right now squeal only after severe stopping (pretty much with smoke coming from out the brakes) or when it rains and i slow down to a complete stop, other than that they have very little if any brake dust the bad thing is that i have gone through three sets of rotors including brembos and still have the original set of pads. and the drums i have to change as often as i change my oil due to overexpansion and glazing. and i keep buring the paint off of them. but this is only in autoX but other than that i have no problems with no brake fade. thank you ceramic steel.

Currently loving my Hawk HPS+Brembo Slotted Rotors+Goodridge SS Lines+ATE Super Blue Setup

The warm weather seems to have stopped the squealing problem.
