Just got ticket... after a clean 2.5 years.

Damn! I just got a ticket on my way home from school tonight. I was dead tired and I kept drifting off. I was pulled over for speeding and I wasn't even intentionally doing it. *sigh* Its my fault but I felt a warning would have been nice. I drifted off a bit and didn't even realize that I had blown right past a cop. I didn't come out of my trance until I saw red and blue lights behind me. That was a surprise. But I can't ask for everything. I had just eaten dinner and was falling into a food coma. And damn my stupid heavy foot. Why couldn't I reduce speed when I'm drifting off? Oh well. At least its been past the 18 months since my last ticket so I can take traffic school to erase this point off my record. But now its gonna set me back some. I hate being 30 miles away from school. All my tickets have been to or from school. Does anyone know how long it takes for a point to go away on your record? Is it 2 years or is it longer? I'm in the state of California.

If you're that worried, I suppose you could always try a quick defensive driving class to wipe some points off your record. In Oklahoma, points fall off annually. I dunno if that's the case in Cali.

I wouldn't worry about it nor would I spend the money on traffic school. If it's the first time in 2.5 years that you got a ticket, your points will probably be gone by the next time you get another ticket, if you ever want to let that happen or course...

I have a point on my record already but its been 2.5 years since then. And now this ticket which I can void with traffic school. I'm just glad that I've stayed out of trouble for this long. I was caught going 84 in a 65 zone but the officer put me down as 80. I'm guessing its anywhere from 200-300 dollars. Anyone have a better estimate?

Yeah thats what I kept telling myself to do after I got the ticket. I felt fine when I left for home. It was only when I was on the road for about 15 minutes when I started feeling drowsy. I should have pulled over and taken a nap that way. Now I know for next time.

Its a trippy feeling drifting in and out of consciousness on the road. Its like the highway keeps going on and on and seems like it goes forever and you can't see the end in the dark. I could sense cars in front and behind me but it was just a blur of lights. Very weird.

Same thing happened to me, 81 in a 60. First ticket since I started driving 9 years ago. The fine was $170.

Maybe doing community service and making a partial payment might be another alternative.

Once again...if youre going to post that up, please make it clear that all of that applies to CALIFORNIA only, plus the entire thing is just a sham to get you to buy his membership. You think those testimonials are real...Sure........I also have a business venture for you to invest in...its called Quixtar.

Well I happen to be in California too and its worked for Sean so I'm gonna give it a try. The courts in the testimonials are really like that in California. I hate them.

Your fines are cheap down there...

1~25 kmh over (1-15mph) is $168... 25kmh to 40kmh over (15mph to 25mph) is $364... and 40kmh+ (25mph) they can, at the officers discretion, suspend your licence temporarily on the spot and tow your car away... along with a hefty fine which I believe is almost $1000)

I know there is a lot of scams out there on the internet but ticket assassin does works.. It is not a scam because you dont even have to pay for the membership. They run on the honor system and you can donate money via paypal if you want. It is a resource that list all the california vehicle code in a easy to understand fashion to help the public fight citations. It also gives advice for one to follow in the event one does get pulled over. I signed up for a membership 4 yrs ago and never paid a penny. Once you register they send you a link to the member section which isn't even a https so it can be share with anyone else. I registerd at the site 4yrs ago and used trial by declaration once; I can honestly attest it worked for me.

And rollatuner110 did say he lives in the state of CA in his first post so it does pertain to him.
