    College Finals Week!

This is to all the college students out there that are taking finals. Good luck to you and I hope all your studying paid off!

If you are comfortable with doing so, please list your classes and your grades. As of before the final and then repost and update your outcomes. Don't forget to list your major too!

    Major: Nursing

-Elementary Statistics: 80% (B) Still missing a 50 point project due Wednesday (which brings my grade up to a 90% on the dot) and an optional final that I can take to replace my lowest test grade (80)

    -Pharmacology: 94% (A) Final pending

-Dosage Calculations: 95% (A) Already took the final (got a high B on it)

-Computer Basics: (A) already took the final

Right now, my GPA not including the Spring 2007 semester, is a 2.918 because of two C's I got in classes that no one ever get's C's in to begin with (Sociology and some other easy class). Im really shooting for straight A's this semester to bring it up.

i hate my self for not taking more classes this semester.

i think my gpa is around 3.0 (not sure) i seriously think its easier to get better grades when you dont have teachers breathing down your neck like in high school

^Heck yea its hard deciding. I dunno how many times i've switched my major. I want to switch it again but i'm afraid that i've come too far to turn a different direction now. Plus, I only have two years to get my Bachelor's with my current major and two more years after that to do what I actually want to do with it. But yea, there are some pre-med students I knew in some of my science classes that had over a 4.0 GPA. I think, how in the f**k do you have a social life?, lol. But oh well, I guess they'll get the last laugh when I pull up to the hospital in my little Civic that i've had for years and years, and they pull up in a Ferrari that they've only had for two days. I could've done better with my GPA but when I went to college, I kept the same ignorant mentality that I had in high school...to be "just good enough" and make straight B's with little to no C's and if I get an A in the process, then sweet. I'm still trying to grow out of that because I find myself to be a lazy mofo at times and watch tv or get on trdforums.com instead of doing school work....

OMG I don't think I wanna post my pre and post grades on here. I just hope I can do decently in my microbiology and organic chemistry classes. I've changed majors 3 times and its taking forever to graduate. I'm getting there though.

Not bad - good to see you guys are getting ready for finals. Hopefully everyone will get a break over summer (summer classes totally blow).

Makes me want to go back and get some more course work in - can never get enough education, no such thing as too many degrees :D

Anyone else finished with College here on the forums? Plans for Graduate school?

So far - B.S. in Physics (1992), M.S. Physics(1996), Ph.D in Chemical Physics (1999) - all in computational and theoretical. University loves us - just need to buy us a reasonably fast computer, couple pads of paper, good to go. Wife is an experimental Physicist (I know - our son is totally screwed - exposed to SciFi and computers, can't dance worth a $hit) - University crapped when her dept put in a request to buy a $250,000 a BA magnet (Big A$$ Magnet). May go back for a MBA or maybe a CPA - engineering is pretty HOT now, especially for US Citizens. Not enough qualified people with the right education - most companies are forced to outsource the work (little tickle factor with lot of the DoD work).

Ditto, I would like to know as well...

    lAresl,
3.5 running gpa isn't bad for the semester. Good job. Computers are gonna be a pretty big deal in the future so you'll definitely be able to put that all to use.

    I sense an engineering major...

Just about anything - depends on what you specilize in. Unfortunantely - when you start head on track for a graduate program for something that is hot at the time - like Superconductors or High Energy Physics, you may find that the field had dried up by the time you fished. That's where the government comes in and scoops these guys up :D - especially defense related work.

Yup, I dabble here and there - usually in forums that help out with maintenance and other support - though this forum is more entertaining :D

I'd used to get that from some Business major buddies - I got straight A's. What's so hard with Physics? Same deal with some Pre-Med students, as they need every A they can get - like give me $hit all the time. That is until I get them in my Physic's Lab (T/A for elemetary classical physics and life science courses) - then let the pwnage begin.

Programming - also a fair amount of hardware work as well.

Work for an advanced science and engineering company that provides solutions for physical modeling of signatures, environments, and sensors. Physics-based algorithms for tracking, detection, and identification. Field experiment design, execution, and proof-of-concept demonstrations, measurement programs, and system evaluations in operationally relevant environments.

Basically I work on stuff that the military find very interesting. But I also get to go on travel as well - not tied to chair and desk all the time.

Pay could always be better - but I do alright. Get to eat steak when ever I want and drink all the booze I can hold down - so I'm good to go :D

My collegues are always give me $hit though - with my salary - I could be (they say should be) rolling with some nice wheels. Kind of funny when I show up at a company function and try and valet park a plain looking silver Corolla, when everyone else is rolling in Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, BMW, Jags, some exotics. Even the secretary rolls in a STi. But I use my car for basic transportation - all the money I save in the meantime goes into the house or gets squirreled away toward early retirement. So they may be driving a $100K cars and look good at work, while I'll be throwing back some Mai Tai's at a resort in Nassau at least a decade before they are able to.

Nice :D, that looks to be a tough class list there. Sounds exactly like my brother's class list - also in EE. Circuits are the weed out class - if you can tough it out, you'll make it through no problem. Statics and Dynamics - I hope you like physics and math - as that pretty much what they are. Like most Universities - take your general classes over the summer if offered. Workload will be fierce, but those teachers and teaching assistants like working over summer as much as all other students - so level of difficulty will be lower. I wouldn't take any course work for your major in the summer, though, they skip so much material - you won't learn a thing.

    I Love Math But I Hate Physics..lol.
My Friends Say That I'm Crazy Cuz My Major Is Electrical And I Should Be Able To Love Physics ( I Thinik Their Right ) ..but I Always Had A Probl With Phy.

That's cool - physics is almost all math anyways - as I explain it to others, math is what is leftover after you ignore all the other bull$hit in physics - you should be just fine.

Yeah, I helped T/A a Circuits lab course - I was surprised by the level of the class. Used to have a Prof that stood in front of the class, took a big look across all the students and then make a statement, like "only 30% of you will pass this class will make it through this class - of those that pass, only 10% will finish with a E.E. degree - Welcome".

i hated that in high school, if anything that speech made me not want to go to classes. they said only 45% of us would graduate with our class. its supposed to encourage us but it just made us feel like shit...

I don't about smart or mature - as my wife will attest to :D.

Once I hit that magical "mid-life" crisis thing, I might re-evaluate my goals at that time.

Maybe a 1UZ-FE (twin turbo??) or 2JZ-GTE swap into a Corolla project car with AWD from a Celica GT-4? Still be cheaper than picking up a used M3 or M5 - plus I have access to a full metal and fabrication shop at work.

Yeah, something that I totally didn't agree with - but some places is department policy.

Was told in the last year that I taught that I had to fail 15%-20% of the class - regardless of how well they did. If they are that smart, make the material harder. This was to support all the research that looked a trends that showed most biological, psychological and social phenomena, that occur in the population, follow a "bell curve" distribution. Total Bull $hit.

If you showed half a brain in any of my courses, attempted the work, and actually attended class - ie. you busted your ass in class. Didn't matter what you got in test scores - you passed. I showed no remorse in failing students that cut class all the time and don't do a lick of work. I graded on how much of the material students absorbed in class, how engaged they are in discussions. Concepts, not test scores were important to me. Department flipped when I passed almost 85% of the class with a B- or better, no C's, D's, 15% were F's (students never showed up to class). Wanted me to change the grades to fit the bell curve - I refused, so they refused to let me teach the following year (no problem, that's when I picked up my current job). Screw that department.
