    Keeping it stock?

I went to a HUGE meet saturday night. It was a great meet with at least 200+ vehicles, both imports and domestics, trucks, and motorcycles.

So I walk around to take pictures. When i returned to where my car was parked i found a group looking AND admiring my car. And when I walked to them they were talking to each other saying "damn thats a clean oldschool with low miles" So I walk by and say "thanks, you like it?" and the conversation goes on for about 5 mins til they ask me to pop the hood (hella dirty it is). They insisted so i just opened it. For some unknown reason my car was jaw-dropping to them. I also mention that ill be dropping it and putting wheels on it and they disagreed saying "boy, this corolla has more value than that dropped and engine swapped old crx"

So I thought about this all night that night and semi-decided to keep it stock for the time being and focus on stuff i NEED to do. What input do you guys have on this?

    CLIFFS:
    1. Went to a meet.
    2. People admire my stock-ness.
    3. I will probably keep it stock until I finish college & get a better job.

I think the older a car is, the better it is when its as stock and as clean as possible...cuz if thats the case, it would certainly be worth more. But it depends on your intentions.

The older a car is, the harder it is to do tasteful modifications. I bet you guys see these old 80s accords running around riced out like hell.

I would say tasteful as in stock oriented mods...aka TRD parts for Toyotas.

Yeah like that. Tasteful as in sleek, free-form, color matched, and correct fitment.

It doesn't necessarily mean that everything JDM is tasteful. If you load up your car with every single JDM thing you can get your hands on, its not tasteful. Its blending into conformity. These days JDM is too overrated for me to consider truly tasteful. Truly tastefully done cars are hard to come by and unique. JDM is all over the place and taking the place of rice. Haven't you noticed almost every aftermarket auto part ebay motors sells has JDM in the title? Its just another phase; a fad in fashion in a way. A tasteful car is one that looks like it was modified to seem like the upgrades are straight from the factory. Nothing too extreme and nothing tacky. Just streamlined and refined. This also includes the sound and tone of the car. Hate the buzzy, popping, and choking rice can mufflers and super loud ear-piercing BOVs. And just say no to vinyl graphics and stickers.
