    Paypal Dispute/Feedback wanted

    Hey everyone,
I just wanted everyones feedback on this situation. Last week I pulled my Radio and 6 disc CD changer out of my 2002 Corolla because I got a new radio and the CD changer has a Propriatary(spelling?) plug. I decided to sell it on ebay and I ended up selling them both for 175 Shipped heres the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...e=ADME:B:RTQ:US:1&viewitem=&item=270104285059 I tested the item before it went out and everything worked properly. I shipped it out the very next day, when the guy recieved it this is the email I got. "I'm installing it later today, so I'll let you know. UPS sucks when it comes to handling packages, and so some of the CD changer was actually sticking out of the box upon arrival, but hopefully nothing is wrong with it. I'll let you know if all is well later." Just yesterday I recieve this email "Hello. There is a problem with the CD-changer that you sold me. I received it on Tuesday, and on Wednesday I installed it. After playing track 3 on any CD, the remaining tracks do not play at all. I talked to some local car-stereo center around here, and they state that this is a fairly common problem. Now, I don't know whether or not you sold me this already knowing that it was screwed up or not, but regardless, my money needs to be refunded due to the fact that you sold me a defective unit. I left you a positive feedback, but if this problem does not become resolved, I will retract the positive feedback and leave you a negative feedback, as well as filing a dispute under PayPal (I already talked to an eBay rep regarding this situation). So, if I send you the items that you sold me back, I expect a full refund plus the cost of return shipping. If you do not want these defective items back, you can refund my money without the extra shipping charge. Please respond ASAP.

    Cory"

He has filed a paypal dispute with me which I excalated to a claim. Who is at fault here? I want an honest answer I have never ripped anyone off before. What do you all think?

Did you get insurance on the package with UPS?

If you got insurance for hte package then the claim should be filed with the shipping company. Was the CD he used burned or a real cd? cause burned CD's don't always work well either. I burned a few CD's and after a certain track, it won't play right. Regular CD's work fine.

The package is insured, he said he has used Regular CD's and burned CD's. He said that after the 3rd track on every CD the CD won't play. He says that I shipped the package out knowing it was defective. I think that this is not my fault at all.

If he claims the thing was hanging out the box when it arrived, then the claim should be filed with the shipping company. Explain that and provide the email to paypal. Tell them it was shipped in working order but who knows what happened while it was shipped. Who knows how long it was sticking out of the box. This guy can assume all he wants but he can't prove you shipped it out like that.

The only issue I may see with this is that someone is going to claim that you did not package the item correctly or securely.

I actually had it boxed and packed by the UPS store employees so its all up with them. I hope that they rule in my favor, this guy is started to threaten me saying that he has family that leave near me and they will settle this.

Is that so? Then go to the police and file a report. If it'll help you, provide paypal with the police report # and tell them this person is now threatening you.

You're better off covering your bases should something happen. Do not reply to him though. Let paypal deal with it now. but definately file the police report.

This is what he has said to me, I know what he means but I don't know if its clear in this sentence.

"If it comes down to it though, I'll be sure that he gives you a visit to get to the bottom of this. I don't take kindly to people who think that they can get away with this kind of activity, and you know what you did."

I wouldn't take that lightly. That could mean bad or worse. Its just going to cause a confrontation. I still say you file a police report saying you fear for your safety after his email. thats just me though.

    Latest Email from buyer

"This is an electronic circuit failure, not a mechanical failure; once again, stop blaming this on UPS shipping. You said that you "tested the system when it was out". This is impossible to do without special test equipment. Maybe this is how you damaged it, or you're simply making that part up; either way, I want to know what you meant. There are three simple and unique connectors which make it impossible not to "hook the system up properly", so it is not that I don't know how to install electronics - this isn't some complex procedure, so stop making it out to be. You are trying to blame the CDs for the tracking problem in an attempt to avoid responsibility. If it is only a "problem with our CDs" or our "system hookup" being incorrect, you can sell it to someone else. "

I have stopped contacting him, and will alert the police. But this guy doesn't know whats wrong with the CD Changer, I believe that maybe during shipping that the lense might have been damaged, This particular unit will display a Err ## code when something is wrong. I don't think this guy is very smart.

I would file a police report ... that's just stupid on his part? And first of all, UPS, aside from you buying insurance has to take the blame if they packaged it. If you just brought the item in and left it with them, it is their responsiblity. They lost a package of mine and claim that it was signed for by my sister (which she said she never got it) and they won't refund my money. And I bought insurance on it. So UPS can go to hell. The Post Office close behind it. Fed Ex so far seems to be the only shipping option that I haven't had problems with *knocks on wood*. File the police report.

File a complaint with your local police, and file a claim with UPS under the insurance... and if the guy keeps threatening you, tell him that you already filed a complaint with the police...

The package is insured....all he has to do is go down to the UPS store and get his money back. Forward the email that he sent saying that the item was hanging out of the package to Paypal. Simple as that.

Id tell him to go fuck himself. The problem isnt yours anymore. Pull the money out of paypal. Whats his email address? Lol...Ill tell him whats up. he

Can I file a complaint even though he lives in Utah? I have sent a few things to paypal about whats going on including the threats and the email about the package being damaged.

The funds are being held until the dispute is over with. Once the claim is over with I will post his email address. But not before. I <3 my TRDforums :)

first of all, it's his fault for accepting a package with the contents sticking out of the fucking box. you should definitely file a police report for his feeble attempts of threatening you.

"What is the serial number of the unit you sold me, and what is the VIN number of the vehicle it came from"

the way this is going, watch the next email say that the cd player is stolen and was sold on ebay knowing its stolen..lol. wtf would he want the VIN? I'd definately stop emailing him. thats it...its in paypal's hands now. let them resolve the issue. He shouldn't be contacting you if he's already disputing it.

hopefully you have contacted the police already cause he does have your address. and there are alot of crazy people out there.

    Newest Email:

"For the last time, lay off of UPS. You know as well as I do that the unit was messed up from the moment that you shipped it. There is no physical damage evident to either unit, the problem is not mechanical failure but electrical. Neither we nor UPS damaged anything. I have a masters degree in engineering and 30 years experience in high tech defense and consumer electronics. I know how to plug in a connector, so don't even bring up this crap about how I might be hooking it up wrong - there is only ONE way to hook it up! Why don't you answer my question about how you "tested" it after the unit was taken out...how did you do this? Why are you so unwilling to give me the VIN number of your vehicle which you took this unit out of?"

Guy is freaking persistent. I will post his email in just a minute

    Heres his email: avsfan_meiko@yahoo.com
Have at it guys If paypal decides in his favor I'm filing a fraudulant claim anyway

Your VIN is your business. He has no right to know unless you are selling the vehicle. And so what if he has a masters in electrical engineering and 30 years experience. He's still a moron.

30 years? Which would mean hes at least in his late 50s.....no way. This dude is blowing smoke.....just stop emailing him, and let paypal handle it.

There is no logical reason to give him your VIN. thats utterly ridiculous.

Hes an idiot......email threads, flaunting his experience, etc.
Keep ALL of his emails, and continue to forward them to paypal to show that he is harassing you. If it was broken in shipping, thats his problem. I dont understand why he is reluctant to take it to UPS...seems that he just doesnt want it.

Take the fucking thing to UPS and get your money back! Hes an idiot.
