    Lotus vs. MR2

It's in the newest Car and Driver. I was hoping someone would've picked it up and enlighten us. I was gonna buy it today at work but I walked across it in the morning and forgot to grab it on the way out...

EDIT: it was on the cover of Sport Compact Car....and not Car and Driver...

Okay, I just bought it. I would've posted earlier bout it but I fell asleep for like 8 hours when I got home, lol. Neways, you are in fact right, Nate, that it is Sport Compact Car. The SCC mags were all piled in with the Car and Driver mags. But anyways, that was a pretty interesting race although the MR2 they used was heavily modded (kinda) and the Lotus was stock, it still turned out to be a close one. But I agree with their decision that even though the MR2 did win in a few things, the fact that the Lotus kept on its tail in its stock form makes it the winner...

Newayz, I want to scan it...do you guys think it will be okay if I scan it and post it here??

Bring on the japanese version of the stock MR-2 or even the MR-S and it will keep up very well.

I'd also rather have the Lotus. I mean afterall, you can still turbocharge the 2zz too.

Bring the lotus with the MR-S (JDM Version) and it will give it a run for the money.

yep and with less restrictions overall on power, intake and exhaust it will pick up faster than the USDM version. They won't even sell the Lotus over here unless you really want to order one. Simply put the MR-S is just as light, quicker, and faster and way cheaper than the Lotus.

won't be able to tell unless there is an actual comparison, that said, I'd still bet on the Lotus to win

    LOOK!

i have a mr-s with a 2zz. nowhere in the world did the mr-s ever come equiped with the 2zz engine. ALL mr-s that came out of the factory came with 1ZZ. even in best motoring, they vboast about how the techno pro spirits mr-s was eqiuped with a 2zz.

so what makes you think the JDM mrs is better than the usdm one? because it comes with a stock oil catch tank? or is it because the driver sits on the right side??

the mr2 spyder, mr-s, and mr2 roadster are ALL THE SAME CAR. THEY ALL COME WITH THE SAME ENGINE WHICH IS THE 1ZZ-FE.

i'm having fun with my 2zz, and i tell u this... it's no elise. not by a long shot.
The elise is tuned to 190hp and the entire car is roughly 300 lbs lighter than the mr-s. not to mention the elise's underbody is completely flat and covered with aluminum, like a f1 car.

if you want a real comparison, try putting a exige-s against an ariel atom. that's more comparable.

... do you really believe everything they're telling you, or is it that think you know japanese?

and you can't compare an elise to a mr-s when it comes to handling. lotus has been doing nothing but making things handle on rails since the beginning of time.
comparing elise to mr-s is like comparing a lion to a panda.

elise suspension is designed as if it were a f1 car. mr-s... not so much.

oh im sorry i just know my stuff and i know what i have seen over here and unless you have the ability to come over and give me crap about it you don't know a thing . all the vehicles that are over here are extremely different than what is over on stateside. You don't have to be in the Marine Corps to know what the difference is between engines and the way they are built.

    no... you're a postwhore, and u don't know what you're talking about.

let's clarify things for you. Toyota did not release any mr-s to the public equiped with 2zz's. they may had intended to in the first run, but decided not to because it was too much for the general public to handle.

and you're saying that cars are extremely different in jp than in usa. okay, they probably are. that's basicly because THEY DRIVE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD. that and their emissions standards are different than ours. what else? nothing, that's what.

i honestly dont think you know what you're taling about. do some research.

you have no solid proof other than you saying that you're a marine, which is not much... mister black cornerlights and 2 front licence plates.

That's because the 2zz-ge never came factory in the MR-S. Not in North America, Japan or any other country in the world.
