Has this board lost interest in cars?

It seems most of the posts lately are in the Jokes or Debates and Rants sections. Are people not into tuning their Corollas any more?

Another factor to consider is the number of us, mainly veterans of this site, who have moved on to a different car but still enjoy the homeliness the forum seems to provide...

my car isn't getting modded any more. Until I have a job that I can afford more than just trivial mods there is no point. When I'm making 45K+ a year, then we can talk engine swap.

my car hasn't run reliably in months, due in part to shoddy maintenance before i got my hands on it. everything i've been doing has been maintenance items, and it SUCKS.

HA! That's what I thought, but there's always something that comes up. If my 2nd set of Tokicos weren't COMPLETELY shot, I'd be one step closer to saving for an engine swap. Coilovers are nice, but I didn't want to be forced to buy them like I basically am now. I guess we're all in the same boat in that it takes lots of cash before you can mod. lol

Exactly. As you get older, you tend to make a higher salary, though your priorities change.

Id much rather put 5k into my house than my car.
Or you start to realize that its more beneficial to just buy a more expensive car than to mod a cheaper car.

Ill probably always lower my cars, upgrade stereo/video stuff, and tweak the suspension......but thats about it.

regarding the house bit...once the lease is finally up on the old apartment in April i'll finally have some more spare money to save up for a house. the only priority i have for the vehicles would be keeping them running...and both need money/work done. i agree about buying more expensive cars rather than modding cheaper ones, because it's likely the more expensive car has more of the stuff one would want already installed.

i will always have a toy vehicle, but it's nowhere near the priority it used to be. once i get the subaru running reliably i won't be modifying it for awhile...i'll just set aside money here and there for the motor and tranny i want, and when i have the money for it i'll do it. i won't put myself in debt just to modify the car like so many others opt to do.

going off what e_andree said, no matter what car i buy i'd probably still tweak the suspension (including tires/wheels AFTER the oem ones are done) but that's about it lol.

ps - and of course tint and i'll probably just get the upgraded audio from the factory.

Tint is a must as well too. I had the trailblazer windows tinted the day that I bought it. :)

Plus buying a car new, you have the warranty.

I feel off on the whole modding thing. I was really into it until money really became an issue. I eventually lost interest in modding the car. The only thing that I would do is tint the car or add something to the audio system. Thats about it. Living in VA, the cops around here are strict when it comes to modding cars and I don't have the time, money or patience to deal with tickets and bs like that.

Welp, the 83 is nearly finished save some headwork and I'm going to see about another of our cars at a chassis shop about 100 miles away that should be completely finished, as far as the cage/floors/rear end/transmission goes, by the end of the month. I'm not at liberty to say much about it, except that it's a Toyota. :)

I don't bother with FWD modding. FWD=DD for me. I don't put a lot of money into anything I drive everyday.

I just want to get my car up and running at this point so that I can focus on other things. I'm hoping to have the new engine and turbo installed and tuned in the next week or two.

Yea, i pretty much just want to keep the payments made, and the maintenance up to date on mine. I was considering doing BBS LM's this summer or some Work S1's and coilovers, but thats 3000 that could go to a cruise, be used on my money in europe, be used to make my room in my apartment more cozy, go to a new computer, go in savings (pah!) or.... there's just so many other interests lately than modding my car! Its crazy because I really used to be into it but now I think that I'll probably just wait and buy a brand new s2000 when I can. I bought the hardtop because they're transferrable. I guess I'm becoming boring? I was shopping for Furniture the other day!

AND i sold the corolla over Christmas! :(

i am still into cars, but would rather spend money in other places as others have mentioned. the only future mods i have planned for my subaru are non unless some really good deals come along, but my wifes matrix needs actual work. i want to get it repainted and get all the dents out of it put some new struts in, but right now we are working on getting a boat and may sell her car and get a FJ. i would rather spend extra money towards toys then mods that will go no where or add value.

Still Tuning and Adding to my car.Though since i have been in Japan and working 18 hr days quite often it does not do me any good since i basically sleep the rest of the time. But when i do get chances to get off of work evey now and then i go out and buy more stuff for my car even though i am already in the process of saving up to buy another vehicle when i get back the states. As of right now my car car gets driven about once every two weeks since my parents and my fiance` rarely drive it. so there is rrally no point for me to get stuff but i get it because i prefer to be busy working on my car then to just be sitting around. I have spent more than i make these last two months mainly on cooling, suspension exhaust relocation bluprints, and numerous upgrades to the interior and stereo. For right now I just log on from time to time and help others who need advice from past experiences.

Should've stayed w/ the Rolla, I say bring the Sentra on...........hehe, yeah right like that is ever going to happen since i am halfway around the world. Almost!
