    Power of the Peso

Im watching this on ABC right now. Here's the news link.

    http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/story?id=2983312&page=1

The lowdown: A pizza restaurant in Dallas is accepting Mexican Peso's as a form of currency and payment and converting the change into US Dollars.

    I think that:
A-it's not helping the immigration issue by openly accepting foreign currency as a form of payment.
B-I think only a bank or an institution approved by the government are the only ones that can accept foreign currency (and thats only for currency conversion)
C-Now that this has come to our attention, we should not turn a blind eye to our Canadian borders either since they do the same thing there.

    We need regulation..

Oh yeah. I saw this in the news 1 or 2 months back. They have a currency exchange rate table to measure the estimated cost of the pizza in pesos. I agree. I think its a stupid idea that is encouraging illegal immigration. When in Rome do as Romans do. Apparently this establishment does not do so. We live in America. Use American currency or do nothing.

^^thats scary when you can say the peso has a higher value than the US dollar. Hits me with the realization that the US is becoming a "has been". I read somewhere that in a few years, the US will not be the most english speaking country on earth.....China will...

The US won't even be a superpower anymore in the distant future. It won't even exist anymore. All great nations will fail and fall. Thats just how history depicts it. Nothing lasts forever.

I can't say thats a 100% true. Reason being is that I'm sure there are people who travel back and forth to Mexico or the US for several reasons and always come back with mexican peso's should they decide to change dollars to peso's over there.

Example, I went to the Dominican Republic for my honeymoon. They accepted american dollars over there. Is that encouraging illegal immigration? Not really. I bet in Mexico, they accept american dollars as well..is that encouraging illegal immigration? Not really (altho I dont' know who would want to sneak over there to live there..lol).

That would be funny tho if we got thousands of americans and told them all to run the border and run into mexico. I wonder what would happen if mexican's saw thousands of americans charging towards them. lol.

    1.00 MXN = 0.0902725 USD

So if a pizza costs 10 bucks, that would be 111 pesos.

Am I missing something here? How is the peso worth more than the US dollar?

If youre given 10 pesos, you can exhange that for 90 cents in US currency.

    What am I missing?

If the mexican peso was more then the US dollar, then there really wouldn't be an immigration problem. why would anyone move to a country to make less money if they're making more now. so i highly doubt the mexican peso is more.

EDIT: I just looked...E is right. it will take 11.0495 mexican pesos to make one dollar. This is as of March 27th. The currency exchange rate may have been higher in the past, but its definately not worth more than the US Dollar.

His dad was wrong. Theres no way that the strength of the peso multiplied 12 times.
