    short shifter install

    Hi everyone,
I havent posted in awhile but it looks like a lot of the same people still have their cars. Has anyone installed one of these on their 8th gens?

i believe that even though it says its for the mr2/celica its still supposed to fit an 8th gen. I'm not exactly sure yet how to take the shifter assembly apart and i'm not sure where the bushings go, cuz i just got this part yesterday but i'd really appreciate some input into the trouble spots people encountered while installing shifters cuz it looks like i'll have to take most of the dash apart to get the assembly out.

That looks like the fidanza unit I have. Should be pretty much the same. Those solid shifter base bushings make a world of difference, too. Best money I've spent on my corolla so far.
Yes, you do have to pull out all of the lower dash to get to the whole shifter assembly. Make SURE you buy a set of e-clips from autozone/o'reilley's/advance auto/whatever. You need it for the reassembly. Best of luck to you.

by "e-clips" do you mean those clips that hold the shifter to the cables?

Nope. There is a little washer-like thingy that looks like washer with tines on the inside.
Look up an install FAQ, and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's a pain to get off, but you can get new ones at autozone (I paid about $2 for a pack of like 20).
