    98 Swap

My interest has been piqued once again in swapping out the 1ZZ in my 98 VE with something better. I'm interested in the Blacktop 20V and the 4A-GZE, but I"m more interested in the 20V. Where's a good place to purchase a swap from (reputable, prefer a front clip to just a swap, and not ridiculous on the price), and how hard would the swap be?

Yes, this is mainly a question for Dr. Tweak, but I figure there are at least a few people on here who could point me in the right direction. Any advice and info would be appreciated.

    Thanks, all. :)

Have you considered turbocharging the 1zz? Torque is a good thing...

I have, but in the end, it would most likely end up costing me more to do that than to swap the engine. I dunno. Just a feeler.

According to law, you are not allowed to swap a motor older than the model year car into it. You can only swap a motor of the same year or newer. Some places if they recognize the difference will refuse to smog it.

The 20v blacktop is probably the number one best option, we can swap that in for like $4800 for everything, turn-key and out the door, it makes 170hp. We can locate the engine and everything for you.

Not bad at all, Dr. Tweak. I'll definitely keep that option in mind.
How bad would you say it would be (cost, parts, etc.) to attempt this with a buddy of mine (who has done a number of engine swaps)? Are many custom parts needed?

If you send the wiring to me to get squared away, then you probably could do the swap without much trouble. The stock axles and mounts should work fine, the only custom parts are custom exhaust, a/c lines and p/s lines.

Deleting A/C in a daily driver in South Louisiana is a suicide request. :bricks1:

i would go with the 4agze. some much aftermarket support for it and is a great motor. swap in the super charger from the previa and some other minor work and it would be a very fun car.

Emissions testing? what Emissions testing? lol Last time i went to get my brake tag, they did not check ANYTHING at all.
I think they only do emissions testing in Br? but not in NO/Met. Down here, you can get away with anything :D .

Lol. When I got my car inspected in January, they just looked at my tailpipe (stock) to make sure it was on there. That's our lovely "emissions test" in BR. :p

    It's a 4AGE, it just has a different CR and a supercharger.
