    300, who saw it?

the wife and i went and saw it in IMAX at the palms here in vegas. WOW what an incredible movie. i had goosebumps for most of the movie... the fight scenes were very powerful and it felt like you were right there with with them. the few humorous parts were well placed and didnt detract from the serious nature of the movie.

just remember that this movie is based off of a fictional novel which is VERY LOOSELY based off of actual events. i was reading reviews on yahoo and there were a bunch of persians pissing and moaning about its historical innacuracies... blah blah blah

    discuss...

technically it's based on a comic book, not a novel. :d

Chris and I saw it on Friday, and I'm glad we did...it was definitely entertaining.

I heard all around that it was based off of a novel as well, but it isn't...Dak Horse Comics is the publisher of this so called 'novel'.

Anyway yes ... movie rocks my socks. It was bad ass. Nathan said it best. I really really liked it and if you can go see it at an IMAX GO!!

basically a GREAT MOVIE! who cares who interpreted it where why or how haha.

just watch it in imax and you dont care who is who... its a very intense movie and worth every cent to see

check out this quote from some persian guy on supraforums (an american none the less)
"Yeah, this movie is subliminally psychologically conditioning Americans to dislike Persians, or Iranians, so Bush can push forward with his war in the Middle East. Notice how they kept talking about glory and honor and freedom. Thats why this movie was made -- im glad to see that you consciously realized that."

    nutjob?

Are you kidding me? This guy is a total nutjob. Does he not realize that this movie took place a super long time ago and that it has NO difference in anything Bush is doing? Apparently not...wow ... pretty sure I am glad I don't belong on that site lol.

im pretty sure he is referring to propaganda and the convienent themes in this movie. pretty sure hes mixed up though. shouldnt it be the extemists and terrorists rooting for the movie? after all they are the ones fighting 1000:1 odds. sucks they are the opposite of the spartans though. whatever, totally different thread to discuss that

i had been waiting Sooo long for this movie to come out! And...... I was disappointed. BUT, the disappointment falls to my account because I knew it wasn't going to be historically accurate, I just didn't know How inaccurate it would've been. I didn't think the acting was good, and it seemed like the 'XXX' (vin diesel movie) or 'Transporter' of historical action. The artwork of the film was done Very well, the cgi and special effects in the battles and other scenes were amazing! I'm just not one for Goblins and such. This movie didn't have much, but the Immortals being those non human things and the ephors, and the attacking rhino, and the big ogre guy that attacked leonidas....... ehhh.. just got a little funny. It was entertaining to watch with a big crowd because there was lots of feedback from the audience. Umm.. I'm kind of big into Greek history so that's probably one of the reasons why I expected something a little different. Nevertheless, it doesn't really send any modern day message about anything, so I don't know how people can draw valid parallels. but it Was quite entertaining!

to me it's easily one of the most entertaining periods in history!

but, alas, it was not taught in any of my grade schoolings (in Australia, mind you)
or in high school (Colorado and Alabama)

    Briefly covered in college

Really cool movie. Can't wait to see it at the local IMAX.

Same. Never heard of it until this movie and some of my friends (history majors) filled me in on the background of the film.
