I got an 1165 on my POS Dell workstation that we have here at work (Precision 370 - Pentium 4 3.0Ghz / 2GB / 80GB SATA / ATI FireGL V3100 / Windows XP w/SP2). Now to run it on my home systems to see how they compare (guaranteed better than the work workstation).

A fireGL wont give correct numbers with 3D mark. the GL line is designed for rendering more than gaming.

you have to download 3Dmark 2006 and install it. it runs tests for about 10 minutes then gives you your 3d mark rating. the higher the number, the more your computer can do. even with my crappy 1924 rating my computer still isn't that slow. x800 Pro 256MB.. runs all games at a decent frame rate.

I think the low score is something to do with ati cards, cause madonion is a bunch of haters :p

    Back in the day...

I remember when we got our brand-shiny-new Pentium 133..and I remember upgrading it to a Pentium 200 w/MMX...and from 16mb to 48mb RAM...those were the days. Even had a Monster3D Voodoo card for it...

I have the same card almost x800 Pro (just slightly faster than the XL I believe) and I get a very close score. 3dmark06 weighs heavily on shader model 3.0 performance. the x800/850 series doesn't support SM3.0 so, it does poorly on 06, 05 it did much better.

I have all visual quality settings max'd -- most games run just fine, and quality is nice. :) I might drop it just for kicks and see what happens.

    I used to have a Voodoo2 1000 3d only card. :D

it was a pass through that would switch to the voodoo card during 3D stuff, then back to the regular video card for 2D
