    What a wacked out "religion"

    Cruise is Scientology's 'Christ'
Tom Cruise has been named the new 'Christ' of Scientology, according to the leaders of the religion.

The Mission: Impossible star has reportedly been told that he has been chosen to spread the word of his faith throughout the world.

Leader David Miscavige believes that in the future Cruise will be revered like Jesus for his work in propagating the religion.

A source told British newspaper The Sun, "Tom has been told he is Scientology's Christ-like figure. Like Christ, he's been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right."

Cruise became a Scientologist after being introduced to the religion by first wife Mimi Rogers back in 1990. Since then it has been claimed that Cruise has risen to one of the church's top levels.

Change mothership to God and outerspace to heaven and what makes it any more different? MOST religions are based on the same principal with different wording. I dont know enough about Scientology to make a real arguement, just stating something I saw as ironic. :-D

absolutely how every other religion (who thinks they are a part of the correct religion) sees other religions...

Sometimes, the more science classes that expose me to why the earth's naturally-made past makes sense, the less religious it makes me feel...

Makes sense, but if you knew more about Scientology, you wouldnt be comparing it to other religions.

Its more of a CULT than a religion....created by a science fiction novelist.

"Xenu (sometimes Xemu) is introduced as an alien ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. The alien souls continue to do this today, causing a variety of physical ill-effects in modern-day humans"

Religion in general is "whacked out" All it does is cause rifts and hatred among people, and acts as a way to control the uneducated. As Marx said "Religion is the opiate of the masses."

    Here's my basic religious philosophy...

I believe you should treat others with kindness and respect while here, and take good care of your family. I wont deny that there is a god, because I don't know. All I'm saying is I dont believe in him or any other "higher being." If there is a god and I'm wrong, so be it. He / It will jugde me by my actions in life if he does exist. If I've made the most of my life and enriched that of others that's all I can ask for, and all I want.

"One day, a man named Moses led people through the desert to escape an evil pharaoh. They came to a dead end at a large body of water. Moses walked up to a hill and asked god to make them a path. God split the water in half giving them safe passage across this large body of water and closed it up on the pharaoh and his men. The followers began losing hope and patience and made shrines to worship their own god while Moses went to the top of a mountain. Moses spoke to god at the top of this mountain and god carved two big blocks of wood by shooting lighting from the sky. Moses brang these back and when he saw that the people had created their own god, violating one of only 10 rules set forth by god, he threw the tablets at them and a wrath of fury was unleashed on them. Those who survived continued to follow and walk with Moses for 40 years".

    or

"God talked to Noah. Noah was told to build a huge boat. He brought along two of every single animal he could onto this boat. There was a flood which washed away the entire world of sin."

If you told someone who had never heard of Christianity something like that, they would look at you like you were crazy. But thats the beauty of the world today. There are many different religions but most people can choose which suits them the best. Sure not everyone may worship God, but they do have something to give them a daily hope and strength in some way.

Very good..."now allow me to retort" (lol:(

CULT: In religion and sociology, a cult is a cohesive group of people (sometimes a relatively small and recently founded religious movement, sometimes numbering in the hundreds of thousands) devoted to beliefs or practices that the surrounding culture or society considers to be far outside the mainstream, sometimes reaching the point of a taboo. Its separate status may come about either due to its novel belief system, its idiosyncratic practices, its perceived harmful effects on members, or because it opposes the interests of the mainstream culture. Other non-religious groups may also display cult-like characteristics.

    The end. :)
