yes it is possible but its a pain in the ass, you would need the ABS Module, wiring harness, correct connections, and all four speed sensors and applicable parts for them for install, as long as you have a good working manual it will take time but smoothly. The way i see it unless you have a lot of rain, snow, ice, etc. then put it on if you feel you really need it, but like for me it rains every now and then and remains basically hot all year round so i don't worry about sliding. but if you need it for control then gofor it.

I have ABS from the factory on my 01 as well as side air bags :p Saved my butt so many times. If it wasnt for ABS then I wouldnt be driving the same car right now.

I've thought about adding abs to my car because I drive on a lot of snow for 2-3 months out of the year. But, I still haven't bothered spending the $500 in parts it would take to get abs.

Mine didn't come with ABS, not really worth the money and hassle to get it added on as there isn't really any noticeable difference in braking distance. I feel the brakes are easily to modulate without it as the pedal doesn't pulsate.

    And whats your point?

THe entire point of ABS is to be able to steer through danger in front of you. (Hence why they pulsate, just keep your foot down and streer).
If youve ever been in a sudden stop situation with a car without ABS, its not fun.

I've been in situations like that many times before in my non-abs Corolla and it stopped fine, no problems.

hehe, try it on ice. I've done it before with no abs and it took roughly 500 feet to stop my car from 45mph. abs would be a huge advantage in that situation.

Then you havent been in a situation that ABS would be more helpful in.

Without ABS, when you slam on your brakes, you slide in a straight line. If you can physically stop before hitting the object in front of you, ABS isnt needed.

Exactly....without ABS, youre at the whim of intertia

That ABS saved my butt many times :p I say you should get ABS vibe, it could come in handy in NY. Mine has really saved my life on an occasion or two and I dont know what Id do without ABS now. Luckily all three of our cars have ABS lol.

on that topic I still was wondering if the mr2 discs would fit for that. would drop the maintenance costs significantly I'd think.

Yah wasnt tweak supposed to try R&D for the mr2 rear disc swap? Id buy if it was easy to install and as long as my budget allowed it.

It could be done but it's gonna cost.

I'm my car's ABS. Hehe. I've heard some bad stories about ABS malfunctioning.
