    50 profile wheels

so who drives 50 profile wheels? i hate the 40 profile because i'm in nyc.
do you eat the bumps/holes with the 50 profiles?

or should i go even smaller and have 14inch and 55 or 60 profiles?

as long as were going small throw on some 10 inch gold 60 spoke wires with some bubble tires... that would look sweet... :)

I had some 205/50/16's Nitto Neogen's on Rota GT3's. I loved them, they were the perfect size cuz I remember the one time I came too close to a curb, it gave enough sidewall protection to keep it from scratching my rims. Plus, although you still feel the bumps on the road, they're still absorbed pretty well...

    wow 205/50/16s??????

did that rub at all?? i know my 205/40/17s rub when i turn the wheel to the left extreme. if you can do 50/16s maybe i can do 55/15s?

im thinkin of getting these SSR Type C wheels
    [IMG]

the recommended size is 195/55/15 would it hurt if i went 205 instead of 195?

Well im saying I ran 205/50/16 but on my current car, my lowered 02 civic 4dr. But even for my car, I can turn in any direction all the way while bottoming out and never have rubbing issues. 205/50/16's are a pretty common tire size so im sure you wont run into a problem either. Ive seen people go larger than 50 series on the same size without issues.

Civics are different than corollas. With a 50 profile and a 16" rim you will rub. I got TRD 16" rims and tire size is 205/45/16. Anything above and expect to rub.

well I guess I should rephrase what I said. I didnt rub with 205/50/16's ONLY AFTER rolling the lip of the fender. Before that, I rubbed after every bump....

I run 215/45/17's on the Civic. The Mazda has 215/50/17 stock. I dont think the ride is overly harsh or anything. Sure, you have to lookout for big potholes, but you should be doing that anyway.

I just put in some numbers to a tire calculator and this is what I got:

Stock tire on a 2001-2002 Toyota Corolla
    185/65/14 tire
    Tire width: 7.28in (185mm)
    Sidewall Height: 4.73in (120.14mm)
    Rim width range: 5-6.5in
Base speedometer setting: 60mph (0% deviation)

    205/55/15 tire
    Tire width: 8.07in (205mm)
    Rim with range: 5.5-7.5in
    Sidewall height: 4.43in (112.52mm)
    Diameter Difference: 1.72%
Speedometer Difference: -1.755% (too slow) 58.9mph

    205/50/15 tire
    Tire width: 8.07in (205mm)
    Rim Width Range: 5.5-7.5in
    Sidewall Height: 4.03in (102.36mm)
    Diameter difference: 1.67%
Speedometer Difference: 1.691% (too fast) 61.0mph

i did a calculation including the tire size i have now (205/40-17)

the diameter difference of 205/40-17 (compared to stock size) is 0.05%

with the 205/50-15, it is 1.67%.

however i looked at the overall diameter for all three.

the stock overall diam. is 23.46in
    the overall diam. for 205/40-17, it's 23.45in
overall diam. for 205/50-15 is 23.07in

the overall diam. of 205/50-15 is smaller than stock. does this justify that it will fit for sure?

it should but width is more of an issue than height with the rolla

what width are your tires now?

i'm riding 205 right now and dont have major issues with it so i think it'd be alright.

    ^^185/65/14 are stock

if you go 205/50/15 the diameter difference will be 1.67%

As long as your diameter difference is below 3%, you'll be find as far as diameter is concerned.
As for your width, if you arent having problems with 205s now, then you wont when you get 15s on 205s...

    215/35ZR18 with 18x7.5 size rims.

those wheels are okay but they are not very light though, they have a bit of weight to them for thier size

I bought my ADR Sokudo rims I had a long time ago from WheelsNext.com. I really liked their service. After you buy, they call you to confirm your order and you get it in a week.

yeah that sounds good, and yes i had to roll the inner fender lip in order to fit the rims, but the only reason i had to roll the lip was because the rear is lowered all the way down and the camber adjusments would not allow the wheels to sit upright correctly.

They were some no namers that i had never heard of. I dont remember the brand. But whatever it was, they handled pretty decent performance wise and they lasted for a pretty long time. You have to consider the fact that I bought from them a few years ago tho. I just went to site and they have a section that lets you browse their tires (on the left toolbar). Who knows, maybe they'll let you choose what tire you want. And oh yea, I just remembered....when they call you to confirm your order, they'll ask if you want the lugs n stuff. Whatever I said yes to, it added like another $100. I dont think I was listening nor did I really care. I was just excited to purchase my first set of rims...
