I just dropped it off at the machine shop yesterday. Just as Eric had said, I can't do anything half assed. I'm getting my spare block custom coated 9.0:1 or 9.2:1 pistons and having it sleeved and punching out to almost 2.0L. They're installing MRW rod bearings, Crower rods, and ARP studs then grinding the crank and balancing everything. I have to wait until at least February since the pistons will take several weeks to make. I should definitely be putting down some good power with this setup.

*edit* Got Wisco pistons because MWR had them in stock, so I'll be running 8.8:1 compression with the over bored size. I also ordered a TOGA oil pump since it's only $5 more than stock.

Almost $3K including parts and labor; not bad considering the MRW shortblock runs $3100 + core charge + shipping here + shipping back for the core. I'm tuning the car myself, so I don't have to worry about spending the extra money on the Dyno (except to measure my HP).

so when u swap the motor are u swapping in a 5spd or keeping it auto? i think if ur doin all that work u might as well throw a 5 spd in there also

It's staying auto. I have a beefed up transmission and a shift kit for it, on top of my high stall torque converter that's already installed.

Yah keep it auto no matter how many people tell you 5spd. As long as the tranny is beefed up, you should be shifting just as well as 5spds.

You'd be surprised at how well I have my eManage working on here since I tuned it myself with an OBD2 scanner and wideband. Car runs like stock and is OBD2 compliant for emissions.

^ ur lucky for that.hey i checked on the rear disk and i found them but need to go to the other side of town to get them, they want 60 bucks brand new, they are solid , if you want slotted you would need to go with an aftermarket version of basically any brand, the ones i found are stock size,

? the set up ur using is great for the engine, but i wanted to know if you push close to 2.0 you may want to increase your cooling setup, i kept it stock on mine when i boosted it to a tad bit over 1.9 L and it was getting fairly high , with a stock thermostat, temp guage stayed steadily at 200 degrees F up from the typical 180 i had, recently put a bigger radiator and a 160 thermostat and have had no problems.

What oil cooler kit did you use anyway? I'll have to wait until all the engine work is done and installed before upgrading the cooling. I just had to spend another $400 on a new crankshaft because the one in the spare block was pretty beat up around the rod bearings. In reality, it's only $280 since I don't have to spend $120 to have them grind the old crank.

i think it is safe to say that vamp is the new corolla to beat.

Greddy universal adapter, with a Flex-a-Lite remote oil cooler and a its own fan. total was around 200 bucks but it was worth it, just takes a bit longer to warm up but engine temps are substantially down.

hehe, we will see when i go back home in december and i drive up to DC. aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I love Japan, hehe simply because there is endless possibilities! and turbos and things of that sort are all over the place.AWD kits as well, which if i get enough money i just may do it. 115000+ miles, and no, I'm keeping the 1ZZ. The block's already being worked on in the shop. 2 - 3 weeks till it's done since they're backed up a little.

damn you have a crapload of miles on it . mine only has 60K on it when i spoke to my dad yesterday well really 36K on the newly rebuilt engine and and 60 on the chassis and tranny.

Well, the sleeves are in. I'm waiting on a rear seal from Toyota before the shop can put the crankshaft back in. I just have to wait on the 3 angle valve job on the head, and the engine should be ready for re-assembly. Damned gaskets and seals are costing a lot though, as well as a new timing chain. I can't wait to get this puppy installed.

next thing to save up for: beater.
